I know that this has already been covered, but I'm feeling brain dead at the moment. If the red light comes on, then you know it's charging? Right now I'm using the Nook cable + AC adapter, the red light is on and there is nothing on it that says it's charging. I can read with this (but I don't care to).

How do I check to see if my Sony PRS-350 is FULLY charged? On my Kindle and Nook, there is a place in settings that tells me exactly what percentage the device is charged.

I meant disconnected. Note : No red light at all for the" non-working" cases. I did think about shorting D+ & D-, but I was affraid to "burn out" the device ... Pat Last edited by Pat2; 01-08-2011 at 06:15 AM. |

If it is solid black it should have a little arrow to the right pointing towards the battery symbol on the bottom right of the screen. The arrow shows that it is charging though nothing is flashing.

As I can see you're using a PRS-650, and obviously a "French one" so to speak, could you pls tell me what king of external charger ( if any ) you're using for that device. And, can you "read" while charging ? Thanks. Pat |

I have a Motorola mini usb phone charger and I bought a micro usb adapter for it. It charges my 350. As a backup, I bought a Merkury Motorola phone charger on clearance that was mini usb with a micro adapter included. It also charges my 350.
I started experimenting with the adapters and found that with the Merkury micro adapter, I can use a standard mini usb cable and a wall wart to charge. It also charges from the computer but does not show the device, so no data transfer. I found this amazing since the Sony cable that came with the 350 will not charge on a wall wart. I also verified it worked on 2 different 350s. The Motorola adapter does not charge with the usb cable to the wall wart, but with a usb cable to computer shows the device, charges and data transfer. The nicest thing about these adapters is they are so small and a great alternative to carrying multiple chargers and cheap. |

Guys, you are arguing so much, yet nobody here reported back whether you have tried a very cheap iTALKonline Quality 3 Pin Mains UK Mains Charger for Amazon Kindle, Kindle DX, Kindle2, Kindle US, Kindle International, Kindle 3 3G. It was mentioned almost at the beginning of this topic that Kindle charger works with Sony.
£5 is a fraction of Sony charger's cost and nobody is interested? You spend so much time and energy on typing and arguing and testing...why re-invent the wheel? ![]() |

I do agree with you Astra. However I would suggest one half the price of the one you recommended. There was some argument if it was safe to use (and the same would apply to the one you recommend) but having received it, I'm happy it's as safe as you could reasonably hope to be.
Here it's on eBay here and I posted a close up of the plug itself a few pages back, which people complained was too large ![]() |

There is a vendor on Amazon.com, called "Gizmo Dorks", that sells a complete kit with a USB cable, plus a cigarette lighter adapter and a wall adapter to plug the cable into, that seems to work pretty good. Price isn't bad, either. They also have other accessories like screen protectors and clip-on book lights.

Assuming you want to buy a charger... other people already have chargers but don't want to just plug in their reader and see if it works, they want to know from another user if their particular charger works rather than go an buy another one... that was one of the original purposes of the thread...
