I have read many posts in this thread. most members read more than 100 books in the past years. Wow, that is great for you!

So that really gives me great pressure to speak out my experience. I read 3 -5 books and about 10 -15 magazines every year, that is also my target.

I mainly focus on history and economics and my books & magazines are about these topic. I like to chew my books (they are my aborative selection) and give a glance on those magazines because I have not much spare time to read them completely after my job.

So reading of 15 -20 books/magazines every year is too little?

Not at all. If that is as much reading as you enjoy, it's right for you.

So long as you're not like a friend of mine, you're fine.
When I asked him how many books he'd read his answer was "Last year - one, this year - not as many ".

That web page seems to be a scam identical to the mypadmedia.com scam

See https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85587 for details. Essentially it wraps feedbooks.com and charges you for it. It also mis-leads with the promotional quotes, implying that, for example, the twilight series is available for free.

Nah, as long as you enjoy the reading, and are comfortable with it, who cares what others think? Personally, I'd love to be able to read 100's of books each year, but my work schedule won't allow it (nor my sleep schedule, but maybe when I find a book again I just can't put away...)

Fair enough. I didn't want to report it as spam, as I wasn't 100% sure.

I mainly read scifi/fantasy, so I just rip through them. Glad there are people like you to balance me out :-)

Holy COW, y'all blow through books like nothing I've ever seen before!

I read between 25 and 35 books a year, I'd say. I know, I know, I'm a lightweight. A lot of them recently have been on the long side, ranging from 125,000 words on the low end, to 230,000 on the high end, so i don't know if I get any kind of a weighted score or something ;-)

It not how many you read, but how much you enjoy reading that counts.

Of course, if you only read 30-odd books a year, it does make your selection of your next book that much more important.

As a teenager I would read between 100 and 200 a year easy, but now, with full time job, wife, kids, pets, (and any other spare time writing my own), I'm down to between 20 and 30 a year. Mostly SF/Fantasy peppered with the odd Jeffrey Deaver or Dean Koontz.

I've generally averaged about 3 books a month, maybe getting up to 40 books in a good year. This is hard copy and ebook (on Palms, iPhone and Kindle) combined. I got an iPad this year, though, and my reading has doubled. I'm on book #45 already. I don't think I'm reading particularly faster; I'm just making time for reading more often. I read roughly a page a minute with my current font settings (Palatino, second size from the smallest) in iBooks. Some books are slower, some faster, but they don't usually get too far off the page-a-minute rate.
