People often confuse a 'visa' with an 'entry stamp.' Everyone must get an entry stamp in their passports 'on arrival' when visiting most other countries than their own (unless there are territorial agreements such as when an American vists Canada, Mexico, or even Saipan or Guam.) When an American visits Japan, no visa is required. The entry stamp in the passport allows them to stay for a limited number of weeks. Should they need/want to have a longer period of visitation, THEN a visa is required. The visa might give extended stay permission anywhere from six months to three years, depending upon the visa obtained.
Entry requirements are not always reciprocal between countries. A Japanese citizen tourist may enter Thailand and get an entry stamp on arrival that will grant them roughly three weeks stay in the Kingdom. A Thai citizen tourist, on the other hand, is required to obtain a visa (good for thirty days only) prior to arrival in Japan. Stitchawl |

I am an illegal immigrant. When I first got here, I was deathly afraid someone would find me out and deport me. But I came here for my family - pure and simple. Who wouldn't, if you're in a position of dire poverty? Has anyone here ever read Jean Valjean's incident with the bread in the window in Les Miserables?. Anyway, I'm now quite comfortable here, am a productive member of society, and so I'm no longer worried. I finally destroyed my space pod since I don't ever want to go home to my former planet.

Easy don't sling drugs, rob banks, do gang shootings, drive drunk, commit welfare or bank fraud or a wide variety of felonies that will make you a person of interest in a police investigation in Arizona and you wont have to worry about proving your US citizenship

As far as I know, EVERY OTHER COUNTRY ON EARTH gets to:
- decide who can enter their country legally, - gets to express concern over un-tracable masses of people moving through their country, - gets to kick out anyone that shouldn't be there - gets to restrict certain "Rights" to their citizens. America, it seems, is different. Reagan had it wrong -- he never should have granted amnesty to illegal aliens in the 80's just because they were able to elude discovery for an amount of time. That's kind of like telling bank robbers that it's OK if they can just keep one step ahead of the law. Keep stealing, keep hiding, it's all OK. Who's to blame? Republicans? Don't they want cheap labor for big business, that can be paid under the table? Don't they want to tax the poor then feed their children katsup in place of meals? Don't they want to keep America for the rich, white, Christian people (when they're not allowing a Zion-ist shadow government to run a NAzi puppet government through the Bilderberger group? Democrats? Don't they want simple, gullible people who will believe what ever they are told that they think and vote Democratic to get a piece of everybody else's pie? Aren't the motor-voter laws designed to allow people who have no right to vote a say in how the country is run? Don't they want a socialist workers paradise where each is taxed according to his possessions until every one is equally dependent upon the elitists for their cruft of bread? The Media? For running a government-sanctioned propaganda program, taking socialist positions and stating that anyone who doesn't agree with that they are told that they think is automatically a cold-hearted, rich, bigoted, racist? Maybe the American citizens, because they keep electing tax cheats, buffoons, freaks, and a myriad of other people who, if the police were allowed to do their job, would probably be doing time? I tend to side more with the latter, because they aren't voting idiots off of both sides of the aisles, and burning up phone lines letting the jokers know that they have to go. I know, I must be ignorant, because I AM American, and am proud of it. Stupid, stupid man. How do I intend on proving I'm an American citizen instead of an illegal alien? My preference would be to wait until after they actually enforce the immigration, civil, and criminal laws that they have, after which time I won't HAVE to prove that I'm an American citizen because anyone else will have had to leave the country. Chances of that happened? Zero. Until then, the only way that I can think of is by speaking up as one of the people who think that illegal aliens should be expelled, that criminals should be punished, that terrorists should be prosecuted by the military, and that gang members and drug dealers should be treated as terrorists. I guess I must just be Evil (with a capitalistic "E"). |

Nope, most countries take years to do immigration stuff. However, most countries are smart enough not to put expiry dates directly onto the papers involved, making people's papers look out of date.
Screwing those people over, as you're directly advocating, when they are the people who have followed the rules is plain wrong. Quote:

Just a few of the nicknames for our once free society. It would appear these no longer apply. As this is a reading forum, and as a last attempt to inject some thoughtfulness, I offer this; The Law - Frederic Bastiat.epub Last edited by McKGrif; 05-01-2010 at 09:23 AM. |
