It's running okay for me with version 6.13 running on Snow Leopard 10.6.1 with rosetta, if a little slowly, but it is about 3 1/2 screens wide and won't shrink down.

Reinstalled, ignored the first screen (device choice), worked with lots of bumps. Also, I found that no matter what I tell the program, it will always create a Calibre Library in the root of my current user. I don't know if it can help |

				One last try

OK before I setup the Chipin account, one last try. I noticed that all the crashes were happening ina particular section of Qt code, so I refactored calibre to use that section of code differently. Hopefully, that will fix it. Test: http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/downlo...bre-0.6.13.dmg |

When that quote was written, copyright had just been extended from 14 years, renewable once, to 28 years, renewable once by another 14 years. Now, it's anything younger than Mickey Mouse, since Disney just keeps buying extensions. How does having some corporation retaining rights for 75 years after the author is dead encourage that author to keep writing good books?

Kovid, I think you may have something here... I grabbed the new version, installed, turned off the "use Rosetta" setting, fired it up, dropped in three html books, and it converted without any problem. I had been having the "Crash on first conversion, try again & it works" symptoms, but on a three book test, it seems to be working. Yeay you! |

I think the current copyright's are WAY too long and would love to see 10 years from date of publication. Of course, knowing that will never happen I would argue for 40 years from publication which is proposed in Eric Flint's excellent Copyright: How Long Should It Be? essay. BOb

Yes... which is weird! Okay, I'm trying it. It still creates the Calibre Library folder, even though I pointed it to my Calibre folder in the Documents. I converted an .epub to .lit format, perfect (also, nice that right now it doesn't show a duplicate- which previous version did, like any other application I used before!). For the moment it works Last edited by Juliette; 09-28-2009 at 02:52 AM. |

Kovid, Thank you, thank you, thank you! Calibre can finally go back to its home in my dock once again! It runs great now, without Rosetta being checked and no more crashing on startup. It converts books perfectly, and uploads to the 505 with no problems. I did get one small indexing error when the .lit was imported, but it did not appear to affect the book at all. It's great to have one of my favorite apps back! Last edited by bsumpter; 09-28-2009 at 03:13 AM. |

6.13 works for me and my prs-500, but only with Rosetta checked. It's not that slow, but its size onscreen can't be changed, as iain_benson mentioned. Anyway, I'm really happy. Thanks, Kovid!! |
