Please kindly enter me into this giveaway.

I would like to win because as it stands now I hardly get to use my Sony PRS700! My wife uses it. If I win I would like to get the Bebook 2 and if that did not pan out then another Sony PRS700.

My Sony PRS-505 complains of loneliness and needs a companion. For me, I want another toy!

I would like to enter the contest.

I am an ambassador of e-reading, constantly informing those around me of the virtues of e-readers. Besides, I've been reading my Sony 505 and get umpteen comments, "is that the Kindle?" So obviously I need a real Kindle to not be a poser...

I'd like to enter the giveaway. I'd like the opportunity to compare reader models so I can more accurately convey to others the pros and cons between readers.

Please enter me in this competition.

I am very happy with my 505, but would love another device such as the Cybook or BeBook. (What can I say, I like gadgets.) As I will be attending the Edinburgh Book Festival in August, this will be the perfect opportunity to show off different devices and convert more people to ebooks and spread the word about MobileRead.

I was going to enter this giveaway, but as I sat here reading these posts, I realized that I really have no need for a 2nd ebook reader...I mean I can only read on ONE ereader at one time, right? I feel there are more deserving people than me. Good luck to all, and I hope you post who wins! I'll be waiting.

I want to enter to win a new Sony 700 - I could then give my 505 to my 13 year old daughter who is as voracious a reader as I am. And, my birthday is June 27th, the day after the contest ends :-)

Count me in.

There are many reasons I should win.
- I'm a university teacher and by showing off my new device to my students, I can recruit hundreds of new ebook readers (and MR members) every year.
- I'm very interested in working on posting more academic books to MR, but need more devices to test them on.
- I have two adorable daughters who are learning to read, and need to share.
- I never win anything.

I can think of no good reason why I should get a PRS-700 Sony reader. Shoulds make me, a schlep, shudder. It would be sweet to have one though, and it would be received with a personal guarantee I will use it constantly. What more could a gizmo want?

I want to win so I can get a reader for my wife. My wife, I love her so. But sometimes she needs to get hit over the head with a new idea before she sees it for what it is.

I was an early adopter of Tivo. I talked about getting one for months. She couldn't see the point. Pause live TV? Please. Recording? That's what VCRs are for. Within 48 hours of getting the Tivo hooked up, she was in love and couldn't figure out how she ever survived without it. Cell phones and text messaging? I've had a cell phone since the mid 90's. My wife, she never saw the point. Sure, it was helpful occasionally, but who needs to text? Who needs a phone on them all the time? She saw it as emergency use only and thought carrying one was like wearing a life preserver 24/7. I bought her a phone 3 years ago. Again, she wonders how she ever lived without one. Repeat this with laptops, iPods, digital cameras...

So, I know the same thing is going to happen with a reader. She commutes by train and bus about 90 minutes a day and reads more than I do. I don't know which reader she'd want, probably a 505 or a K2. If I won this for her, I'd make her sit down and pick one, then I'd force her to use it. Then I'd spend the next week hearing about how it was the best thing ever.

Love to win!

I would like to enter the contest! After reading some of the posts, I don't know that I am the most deserving. Certainly not compared to those members taking care of elderly parents or sick family members.

I'm definitely not in the same league as those brave souls keeping our country safe. Thanks to all the members of the military and their families. Winning a reader would be nice reward for the sacrifices they make every day.

I know I can't compete in the cuteness department (Did you see the kitty hugging the reader? How adorable is that?)

However, if I was lucky enought to win, I would pick the K2. My reason for wanting a Kindle is that my boss recently banned the internet at my work. Now that I'm back working in the 80's, I can't get my fill of the MR forums during the day. Just because the guy signs my paycheck, he thinks he should be able to control my day!

With a K2, I could use Whispernet and order books right in the middle of my workday. He wouldn't even know. Ha! Take that, boss man.

Giveaway

I would like to enter this giveaway.

I should win because even though I just signed up for an account to post for this contest, I have been reading these forums for quite awhile trying to decide which e-book reader to buy. Winning the contest would force me to choose the Amazon Kindle 2.

I'd like to enter and hope to win because I'm dying to find out how ebook readers can be used in the digital textbook sphere besides the obvious. Reading books is great, but we expect students to learn now the same way they did when Gutenberg was rolling off his first prints. But most of us are social animals; we crave dynamic, socially connected *experiences*. Imaging a textbook that shared your annotations with your peers! That enabled you to discuss content as you read it through forums! That *encouraged* derivative works to aid in learning! And these are just the obvious ideas...

Despite the huge potential market for these devices, manufacturers are reluctant to give educators the time of day. They lock down their books with DRM fearing piracy, and restrict the cost of devices not realizing an ebook reader is like an xbox - subsidize the device and they'll come flocking for the content.

If given a device, I would work to prototyping these ideas with the aim of demonstrating there is *another way* we can learn from interactive books, and that there is a *business model* that would support this.

Neil Stephensons "A Diamond Age" doesn't have to be science fiction, we can create an interactive illustrated primer...

I would like to enter the drawing/contest because:

Red is my favorite color--I have a red iPod and a red cell phone but my Reader is *gasp* NOT RED!!!

My Dad is fascinated by my Sony 505 and I've got loads of freebies he would love to read so I would love to pass my blue 505 on to him. So I really would really love to have a Red Sony 505

Red wasn't available when I got mine and I love red.

Did I mention red is my favorite color?!!

Oh, and I'll bake everyone a dozen cookies if I win!
