I had a bad dream tonight. Someone tried to take my cybook away from me. We were fighting for it for a while both tugging at it on opposite ends. Then the other person let go of it. But my poor cybook was already cracked. I was so crestfallen until my mind switched itself to the wake state and I found out it was only a dream as seldom before. What do you think C. Jung would say to that?

I guess it means that if Bookeen doesn't release the update, the Cybook will be no longer worth to fight for.

Maybe you cling too much to your Cybook. More than you should for a healthy relationship. If you truly love your Cybook you have to let it go.

Next: which end of the Cybook did you hold? If it was the lower end with the navigational button, you'd like to be the one in control, putting pressure on the reader. If you held the upper end where the slot for the SD card is, you're more likely attracted to the inner values of your Cybook.

Altogether this was a productive session and we should meet again next week ...

Try starting with little steps: Let it sit over at the window while you sit close by the door. Once you can do that without shaky fingers, try moving it into another room.

Also the fact that you saw a crack appearing and this caused you severe distress indicates that you place way too much value on the outside appearance. :-)

I think it's cool that people already start having nightmares about their Cybook :-)

I'm figuring that they'll release their latest update about three days before they announce the release of a 'next-generation' Gen4. The 'update' will include partial support for ePub, no fixes for multiple-file HTML, no support for RTF, no support for the Delete button and no proper folder navigation/display.

And, of course, the Gen4 will have ALL of that *with* 16 or 64 level grayscale and 1/30 of a second screen refresh rate.

hehehe, and to top it off the Gen4 would be same hardware as Gen3 but with the new firmware which doesn't get released for Gen3...

But you missed one point: If they made a Gen4 device they would have to make a new firmware for that (which is a little more work than fixing bugs or adding a feature) and how long would you think this would take to get finished?

It'd be done sometime shortly after the 4th of Never.

One might perhaps say that they already are selling an unannounced "Gen4" device, in that, as of around about the start of this year, they switched from using the Netronix EB100 (200MHz CPU, 16MB RAM) as the hardware platform for the Gen3, to the EB600 (400MHz CPU, 32MB RAM).

Numbers of grey levels still do not change on the EB600, do they ?

Is the faster processor able to turn pages faster, or is that mainly down to the electronic ink screen?

Pages turn a little bit faster but it's mainly noticable when calculating needs to be done, for ex. when turning pages of a pdf, or when displaying tables - and when starting up the device.
