What country are you in (Europe list)
What country are you in (rest of the world list)

Okay, I'm back (for a few minutes.) I see we have three more unhappy people, Greece, Italy and Rock of Gibraltar.

Duly noted on my handy dandy post it pad.

Please, mods don't change anything. Leave as is so that I can always remember the wonderful job I did.

and I see France is lagging behind England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland again by one vote.

Sparrow, do you really want me to lump the four together? I'd really be afraid of the results.

Not Ireland (Eire) - that is a totally separate country; but the UK would encompass Northern Ireland.

I just thought it might be a way to free up some slots for other nations.

Gibbo has kindly agreed to join us, so won't need a slot for Gibraltar (unless he tells you differently).

And, by the way, you're doing a great job!

No, I didn't mean the entire island. Just the Northern part, of course. Sheesh. This is more complicated than I thought.

At this point, I am extremely thankful I only ran the poll for 5 days. Can't wait for my next wonderful idea....

Personally I have no problems with you lumping the four parts together (2 countries, a principality and a territory).

The correct name is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. United Kingdom is a widely accepted abbreviation (although there was previously a United Kingdom), however Great Britain is not strictly correct and if I was from Northern Ireland I think I might object to it.

Ahh. Yes, but it was my understanding that many people from there would be preferred to be listed under their own countries.

I would rather err on the side of caution.

Sure people could prefer, but there's no reason to object.

Also posted in the thread is that Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are all trying to gain independence. This is not correct, it's correct to say that some people desire independence, however at least in Scotland the majority do not. There are also people in England who believe that England would be better off independent. It's all down to personal opinion Ultimately we are all British - even if we live in Gibraltar or the Pitcairn Islands, and even if we do not want to be.
