Hi, I have been experiencing with USB netboot lately on the Glo HD: https://youtu.be/n3wJiu7W4W0
It should be possible to do the same or something that is similar for the Libra 2 that lets you try the software without installing it on the device.
Would you be interested?

I'm currently trying to fix my Libra 2 (I stupidly tried to downgrade the firmware and didn't realize there were multiple hardware revisions so now it doesn't detect the battery and shuts itself off despite being fully charged) so I have it opened up and the SD card out while I'm waiting to receive the correct image.

I'd be interested in trying out Inkbox on it at some point when that image becomes available. I assume it does have awareness of the different hardware revisions of the Libra 2?

It's currently made to work for the revision F of the Libra 2, which is the one I have with me.
However, I cannot guarantee that it will work for the earlier ones, although it might to some extent even though it would probably be a bit dangerous to try... (esp. for the earliest revisions)

Looks like my unit is revision E if the board silkscreen is the indication. In terms of danger, do you mean actually bricking the board? If it's just a matter of reflashing the SD, that's not a huge deal for me.

The closest the revision is, the lesser the risk probably is.
In some cases you could fry up the board, but I don't know about the specifics of the revision E...

The difference between the various Libra 2 hardware revisions that causes the most issues is in the power management chipset. Use the wrong revision and you are told your fully charged battery is empty and your ereader shutting down.

I doubt that you could actually fry the board by trying the wrong chipset software.

Thanks for explaining the issue.
If it really is the only problem, then it should be easy to make Quill OS boot on earlier Libra 2 revisions as well.

Well, looking at the images I received, it seems like the three major revisions are the original, version E (mine) and then version G. The update zip has dtb's from original, a, b, c, e, and f!

It's certainly a surprise to me that the Libra 2 had been adjusted so many times!

If only the DTB needs to be changed, and some things tweaked, it should be easy to port the other revisions over. I would need testers though, as buying all the revisions would be highly impractical ;p

You should be able to find it by opening the device and checking the PCB markings. You can PM me a picture as well if you are not sure about it. Note that this should not remove the waterproof coating as it's only on the motherboard and not sealed on the edges AFAIK.

Hello
I opened my Libra2 easily, Here is a picture of my SD. Do you think it's covered with waterproof coating? I'm not very confident with trying to extract it. Could you please point me to a good tuto so I don´t brick it?
Thanks for help

Hi, yes, it is covered in waterproof coating. I used some pliers and was able to remove it. You have to be careful though

Hi again
I could extract the SD card and my libra2 can still work. ))))
I can flash another SD with Quill OS and make some testing if you're still happy with it?
Have a nice evening
