So who is getting the new Oasis 3???.....

Two questions for those who have O2 and O3 please.

1- Is there any improvement on the screen in terms of contrast? or is identical in that aspect to O2.

2- Is it definitive that I cannot use the O2's magnetic leather case on the O3?

1 - The screens, to my eye, look very similar with the 2019 being less white (with brightness and warmth turned all the way down). The 2019 text looks slightly crisper but it could be my imagination. They are both great screens. The 2019 is much easier on the eyes for night reading for me.

2 - My experience is that 3rd party cases that worked with the O2 don't work with the auto sleep and wake functions but fit otherwise and magnetically connect to the O3.

I'm not planning on getting one but I'm rather amazed that they removed this feature. On the other hand they're always babbling about how the battery usage is extremely low and therefore turning it off and putting it to sleep is unnecessary. They're probably right but nevertheless I'd much prefer to have that feature.

According to the description, the Amazon waterproof fabric cover for O2 will also work with O3. I am trying to decide on a cover, but I just don’t like the colors the fabric cover comes in.

They didn’t remove the auto wake/sleep function, but 3rd party covers made for O2 don’t support it for O3. It seems that the magnet placement has changed.

All Kindles go to sleep after 10 minutes without user interaction unless an undocumented command has disabled sleep.

One problem with the Oasis 2 is that unless the cover is on just right, the Oasis 2 is prone to turning on from slight jostling.

No, the half covers will not work.

Despite the device being metal, they removed the magnets on the back that hold those cases in place.

Ah, that's better. For the O2 I got an Amazon cover and the front cover is a thin sheet of metal, aluminum I'd guess. I just now used a rare earth magnet to find the one in its cover and apparently it has two or three, near the outside edge, one at the top and two close together at the bottom.

I have the same case, it doesn’t work with the oasis 3 sadly. The front magnets work fine, but there are none on the back.

I had a chat with Amazon last night about the delayed shipment. This was late in the day and o was dealing with CS from India from the names of the agents. I spoke with two agents. Both said the shipment was lost by UPS. Yet UPS never showed the received the package. Only showing an origination scan. After talking with two agents they scheduled another one to go out for Tuesday. Now I have two ordered. The original one shows a replacement order sent with instructions to send that one back. Which I never received. Gonna be interesting to see how many they send. Seems like something is awry over at Amazon. I'm going to check with them tomorrow during the day. Or maybe Monday. Anyone else getting the run around?

Sleep/wake works on Oasis 3 with Amazon full cover for Oasis 2, the one that was released later for Oasis 2, after complains about the half cover on the photo above.

To support this, I am using the full fabric cover designed for the Oasis 2 which fits perfectly on the Oasis 3 and sleep/wake function works perfectly. It's a nicer feel than the leather covers in my view, as well as being waterproof. Got mine at 30% off for Prime Day.
