So B&N added a headphone jack to its new reader that you can only use to listen to B&N advertisements? Really?

To me the PC mag reads - again - biased toward Amazon, as many of these larger review sites seem to be. Bringing up the failure of the Audio option since it only allows you to listen to Barnes N Nobles produced podcasts is a flaw, but they don't point out at the same time that the new Audio supporting kindles are locked into the Audible content owned by Amazon either. Amazon may be superior in the Audio side of things for various reasons, but the whole article reads that for every plus quality, they have to mention Amazon too in the same sentence in some way, and in a few cases Kobo. Hm.

I am really still undecided on this. I want a new reader. I don't care for my Paperwhite. I want buttons. I was considering a Forma until the new Nook came out. Now I don't know. I have lots of books from BN but I hardly ever buy books anymore. I read mostly from the library. The fact that I can't liberate BN books at the moment is a bit concerning. Surely they wouldn't just go out of the ebook business and just let everyone's books disappear.

I used to regularly see the same thing in reviews for Android phones and tablets. Apple would constantly be brought up, though the reverse didn't seem to happen when an iDevice was being reviewed.

Not sure if that's still the case. I've stopped worrying what reviewers say for the most part.

Except for the price, I would say the Forma is clearly a better fit for you. And I want the Nook to succeed.

I'm still able to strip the DRM from all the books I've purchased through B&N using the Windows 10 app. though reading what others have posted, I guess that doesn't work for everyone.

Of course, you can buy books from elsewhere and import them to your Nook. That's what I do. Doesn't help B&N's bottom line, I guess. But they should have a better store.

How is that even close to the same thing? Amazon owns Audible, yes, I give you that. Amazon does not own the content, unless maybe if it is from an Amazon imprint. Would be a whole different story if the Nook allowed you to purchase audiobooks from the Nook store and allow you to listen to it.

Yep. It's particularly hard to take a review seriously when they quote Good E-Reader (from September of last year) saying that Nook is "dead" WHILE simultaneously reviewing a new Nook reader. But I've noticed a lot of eReader reviewers basically say, "it doesn't work like a Kindle and doesn't use Amazon's infrastructure." I wish they would review the device for what it IS not for what it ISN'T. Seems pretty myopic.

How do you like it? Does it feel heavy, particularly when compared to Kindle Oasis?

I'm really pleased with it. The first day or two I noticed when I first picked it up that it was a bit heavier than I was used to with the Oasis or the Forma. But the Nook is much more comfortable to hold than the Oasis or even the Forma. Nice to have buttons on both sides again -- no flipping to switch hands!

Thank you.

Edit: I just weighed my Voyage, which I always read with a cover. 266g, so the Nook would be only 13g heavier. I think I can cope with that. Now if there only wouldn't be this problem with sideloading...

Have to wait for more reviews.

I've got a feeling that either 1) That wasn't their original intent or 2) Audio books will be coming to this device at some point. It's hard for me to believe they would put both a headphone jack and Bluetooth in the Glowlight 7.8" just for their podcasts.

The screensaver is identical to that on the Glow 3. This makes me suspect that the software hasn't changed all that much.

Everything I have on it right now is sideloaded. Three books read so far and no issues. I never had any trouble with sideloaded books on the Glowlight 3 either, but I know other people do.
