Got mine yesterday. There was a second USB cable in the bag, the packing slip said “comp USB cable (DINP compliant)”. It’s not reversible. Anyone know what DINP compliant means?

DINP is a chemical that can be used in plastics IIRC. Perhaps DINP Compliant has something to do with Proposition 65 in California?

I have an Oasis 2 also , that’s why I’m interested in the battery comparison between the Forma & Oasis 2 . I don’t have a Kobo to compare them . Does anyone here have both ?

I ordered one off of Indigo. It was $253ish total and arrived about 10 days after I ordered it. Only stayed in customs for a week. That’s shipping to Texas. I did require a signature so it took me a few extra days to get it. Saved about $30 that way. They charge you in Canadian dollars and PayPal does the conversion for you. I’ve already loaded my books on it.

I got mine from Indigo too. It shipped on Oct 22 but sat in Toronto until the 30th. (Possibly caught up in backup from the strike?) Went through customs in New York on the 31st. Then I received it in Michigan on Nov 1.
Very happy with it. Really nice to hold with the grippy back and rubbery area around the buttons. I like the placement and feel of the page buttons. The screen is very clear and crisp. As for the light, I have a very faint bright line on the button side and a gradual brightening away from the buttons -- similar to what others have reported. But I don't find it distracting and I don't use the light much anyway. I do like the color change on this better than the Aura One. Got Pocket and my library info set up. Battery life seems good so far, but it's really too soon to tell much yet. I was pleased to find that it fit in the generic 8" tablet sleeve I had from Best Buy for my Aura One. |

I love my kobo forma, just got it last week. This is the best ereader I have used. I have been waiting ages for kobo to finally make an ereader with buttons, it's really a must have for me, I hate having to touch the screen to turn a page.
I had a kindle voyage for the press sensor on the side, it was pretty good but had a lot of annoyances, such as wanting to connect to the internet all the time when I add to collections or at the end of an ebook to rate it. And I had to jailbreak it just to get my book covers on it when it was in sleep mode. I had an earlier model kobo touch screen before that, but lack of buttons got to me. I am pleased their homepage, ebook covers and thumbnails has vastly improved since then. Sometimes the thumbnails wouldn't show, same with the covers. It's so smooth now and the homepage is heaps better. I have noticed the lighting edge issue, but only from looking out for it from reading this forum, it doesn't bother me at all. I love the large screen as I use larger fonts and can fit more on each page now which is nice. I have seen patches and such for kobo here, but for the time being I don't feel the need to add or patch anything, it's quite nice not to feel the need to mess around with it. Very happy with this purchase, feels so nice in the hands and easy to read and navigate. Last edited by bjkel; 11-06-2018 at 10:38 AM. |

Any one have issues with less than satisfying page turn button presses?
Hard to describe but it feels like the page turn buttons are a little loose and get unseated when left alone. When I first press a page turn button it drops a millimeter (or less) and catches a little before engaging with the rubber underneath. After that annoying initial hitch, the button is seated on the rubber membrane and engages like I would expect it too. Disappointing to have to deal with a janky feeling page turn button. Don't think it will ever fail but makes the overall device feel really cheap. I also can get my Forma to quietly creak and squeak when squeezing the case around button area between my thumb and index finger. I found that out late last night a short time after accidentally hitting my sleeping wife in the face while vigorously flipping the Forma from top to bottom in an attempt to get the accelerometer unstuck. I think I'm going to return the Forma and wait to see if (i) Kobo can get these QC issues resolved in the next few batches off of the production line and (ii) there are some decent third party cases since the Sleep Cover is pretty useless for me as either a case (too floppy when folded back and used to rest my finger in between the cover and the case for stability while laying down with the Forma above my face) or a stand (too low of an angle to rest the Forma upright so I can read sideways it while laying down). I'm really going to miss the Comfort Light when I go back to Kindle (new Paperwhite 4 on the way) for the time being. Last edited by s0ckpupp3t; 11-06-2018 at 01:42 PM. @s0ckpupp3t I noticed the next page button makes a noise when I press on the top part of the button, but is quiet when I press on the bottom part of the button. Other than small annoyance, the buttons have been fine for me.

My screen rotation does seem to stick at times. Others have reported the same on their Formas. |

Calmly tilting it back and forth will work, with the added benefit of not hitting your wife. |

LOL! Great advice. The first time I got the benefit of the doubt, the second time she's going to think it's intentional.
