Yep, they do: http://openinkpot.org/attachment/wik...12MB-DMESG.txt

Note line 22. It's clocked at 202 Mhz, or at least their 512MB Cybook was six months ago (probably one of the first 512MB models).

Not according to the data sheet (http://www.samsung.com/global/system...0a_rev11.pdf); the maximum clock for the S3C2410 is 266 MHz.

If it truly has a 400MHz CPU, it's a different beast entirely from the one in the original 64MB and at least the early 512MB Cybooks, which did run at 200 MHz (see my earlier message).

Thanks for looking this up. I'd say, given the fact that they already upgraded the memory to 512 MB, it's entirely possible they decided to go with a faster CPU too. That shouldn't be too difficult if it's a CPU similar to the old one. Who knows, maybe the new chip was cheaper or uses less energy... or both

We could try to understand whay kind of model we have.
I do not know which number, whther the model nr. or the serial nr. could help us.
My Cybook, for example has 512Mb, I bought it in September, and has the model number CYBGEN310B. Could it be that others have different models ?
Maybe from that we can understand how many different models are around.

Mine's an early 64MiB version, and also has model number CYBGEN310B.

Then what I proposed is no good, then. I hoped they could have different model numbers, as they are actually different, at least in memory size.
Another failed experiment, alas. I do not think it is correct to have the same model number for two explicitly different hardware, but it is a moot point discussing it. I supopse also the serial number won't help in that respect, then.
That's the way it is, we cannot do anything to change it.

Well, there's still another way: Take it apart and look at the chip itself

(For those with broken irony detectors out there: I'm not actually proposing doing this unless someone has a broken unit just lying around. If you break your Cybook due to some silly thing some guy in some forum said, it's entirely your own fault. Don't blame me.)

EDIT: I remember there being a gallery on Flickr with some relatively high-res pictures of the Cybook internals, but the only one I managed to find was blurry 640*480 and I wasn't able to read what the text on the chip said.

I believe you're about the only person whose mails are answered by Bookeen, Harry. That's why I think this possibility isn't considered.

I had a mail answered once! They even asked me to send a file showing a bug I was reporting...

I have received several answered emails from Bookeen. I would definitely give them a chance to answer.

Mine's broken and they answered me, twice in a few minutes, when I emailed them asking for suggestions.

I've never got an email from them. Probably it's because I never wrote them.
