I'm pretty sure everyone here already know about this, but just in case, I wanted to mention there is a Sony Digital Paper Twitter account. I think it displays some nice uses of its note taking capabilities:

If your intentions is to jailbreak it to install a newer version of Android you might as well just get an Onyx Boox Max--I don't understand what benefits a Sony Reader would provide if you get rid of the software altogether.

Are they equal in all other aspects? CPU, storage, screen quality and so on? Asking seriously because one of my usage scenarios is as a second monitor outdoors.

- dual touch (Onyx is pen/stylus only) - Sony has much newer internals (quad core) - weight - build quality - made in Japan (for somebody who cares about security) ? more RAM (speculation) |

I don't think you can use the Sony as a second monitor.
@fgdas: The Onyx has a MicroSD slot though. Last edited by Dutchbook; 05-29-2017 at 05:07 AM. |

I believe they are referring to the fact that you can use it EITHER with PEN or YOUR FINGER (i.e. dual = 2 methods of touch) rather than multipoint touch (i.e. it could detect multiple different finger touch's at the same time which would be required for pinch to zoom). I can't comment on whether it has pinch to zoom or not.

Yes, go Sony! I have put in my preorder on Amazon. So, I assume that this is the English, version, right? So much for having to wait months for the English version of the tablet to be released.
So, this is a black version of it, right? It is called the DPT-RP1/B, after all. A lot of people on here wanted a black version, here it is! |

If can I see correctly the Sony has a "glass" all over the front of the unit, covering the bezel and the screen.

No glass. Made in Japan did the trick. Anybody in Philadelphia can see and touch the device during June 4-7 at Open Apereo: https://twitter.com/sonydigpaper/sta...84441967443970 |

And he apologized for initially claiming the speed difference was negligent. That was only true for text based PDF files, those that are graphic based were handled twice as fast.
He also said that writing on it was no different from using a pencil on paper. But it didn't come with neither charger nor case. The old model used EMR but the new one was AES based and that enabled them to lay the screen flat with the bezel. |
