Firmware 3.12.0 - Page 11

I just tested that on 2 Glos with 3.12.0 and the readers still went to sleep after the set time (I lowered it to 5 minutes for the test). Could it be book related if there's other errors in it? Or depends on other hacks you have installed? I use GeoffR's patch only, no koreader or coolreader installed anymore at all.

Only Geoff's patch in it,no other readers,sideloaded epub, will try tomorrow with another book.

I should have added that I also use sideloaded epubs only, I also tried it on several books and no problem with it shutting off when it should.

It happened 3 times now,all in accidental.. now I try it,and I can't reproduce it.
I gonna try it again and try to write down every step.

I've just read thru this thread, looking for a known bug for the latest firmware which might cause freezes and lockups. I sold my Glo to a friend after updating (but not using) the last, and she contacted me to tell me that she's been having constant lockups and freezes. She's been through all the usual fixes (as listed on the Kobo help site), she says, and has now emailed Kobo for help... but I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and whether there are other possible solutions which arent documented. I'll point her to this thread.

I had lock-ups and freeze ups with my 2 year old Kobo Touch. After bugging Kobo enough they replaced it free of charge with a new Kobo Glo (which I'm very pleased with).

I never really found out what the cause was, but if you look up my postings you'll see summaries of my discussions with Kobo (and others) and some of the fixes I tried. In the end after much consideration, I'm starting to believe that it was some type of memory failure that may have only manifested itself on newer firmware versions that needed more memory capacity.

Kobo Customer Care claimed they never heard of a problem like mine, but if you do some searching, you'll find out others (though not a significant number) have experienced similar problems.

My wife's Kobo Touch (same vintage, same books) never experienced this problem, and she now had a Kobo Aura that she is very pleased with.

Thanks for that info. I offered my friend a refund when she first contact me a couple of days ago, she's decided to take me up on it, so at least now I will be able to see whats going on. I had never had such issues with my Glo before, except when on occasion, initially disconnecting from the computer in spite of properly ejecting. a reset always fixed it.

You might have her try going back to 3.11.0 firmware. And also check that it's not a badly formatted book causing it, that it happens in all books.

OK. Just had a call from her, she decided to stick with it, and apparently heard from Kobo with a few alternative solutions. Its all working at the moment without freezes. I'll point her to the forum so she can seek help as needed, or if needed, in future.

Hello,

With 3.12.0, on Aura, I can set flash screen refresh every chapter. On Aura H2O this feature is not available, the best is every 6 pages.

Is it possible to activate the chapter mode on H2O ?

No it's not. And unfortunately while that option is preent for the Aura on 3.12, it's not working correctly, but we've been told will be fixed in the next release.

If you patch the 3.12.0 firmware, you can increase the number of page turns before the flash. I have my H2O set for 12.

Just to clarify: it's the malfunctioning Aura refresh that will be fixed (apparently it's refreshing more often even when set to every chapter). There are no plans that I'm aware of to bring an every chapter option to any of the other devices. The Aura has a different screen which reduces ghosting and makes every chapter possible. The others don't have this screen tech.

You can do that by just changing the config file.
