I just got a second 4.5.2 update pushed through to my HDX 7 yesterday. The notification screen listed it as 4.5.2 (452004220) but once installed, Device Options just continues to show 4.5.2 without the version. No one on the Amazon Kindle forum has reported any improvement with any of their update-related problems due to it, so far.

That is certainly weird. Maybe put a process monitoring/battery monitoring app on there and see if some process has gone completely nuts and is using up a disproportionate amount of resources.

On my wife's old Android phone every time she updated Chrome (specifically Chrome) through the Play Store it (the Chrome process) would go haywire and eat up the entire battery in a few short hours unless she rebooted it. When she went to use her phone it would be in battery saver mode.

I haven't had any issues with 4.5.2 on either of my tablets. As for the battery dying, apps usually cause that. Plex has left my batteries dead a few times after running it. I have never liked that FireOS won't let you easily shut apps down like with regular Android.

It's Silk causing it. I don't even use it but it keeps causing issues since the 4.5 update that and family profiles.

That could be a problem with the hardware. Also might be worth doing a full reset on that device. My HD 7.2 is working great, and doesn't have the issue.

I am thinking about it but seeing I am not the only ones who are having problems with Silk freezing. A few Kindle Fire 6 owners have the same issues. I am guessing it's a firmware bug.

When I first got my Fire HDX last year I had tons of problems with Silk. They did eventually get cleared up though, so there is always hope.

Looks like I am having to do a factory reset. I hope it fixes it and I didn't get a bad firmware update. It's been crashing several times now. Had this tablet for a year and worked perfectly till Sangria 4.5.1
