Just ordered Kindle Voyage 2014

Amazon usually only makes one official cover for each e-reader. I can't recall them ever offering 2 choices. So I imagine we'll have to find one from another vendor. So far I can't seem to find one that I like and that also has auto on/off. I'm sure more choices will be available soon though.

Amazon is offering two covers for the Voyage the only difference being one is leather and costs a little more. That is the one I ordered.

Oh yes, you're correct! Since both cases basically look and operate the same, I suppose I was seeing them as the same case. The difference being one is leather and the other, I believe, some sort of plastic material.

Some new journal type cases are up on Amazon now for the Voyage. All with the sleep wake function. The Poetic is one:

So far the Amazon ones are the only ones that connect magnetically. I like the idea of being able to easily pop it off so I can read covereless when I am going to be sitting in one spot for a while.

I like the idea of the magnet feature too, but the downside to the case for me is the floppy cover (plus I'll never use the stand feature) and also how it opens at the top. I really prefer mine to open as a book.

Another thing I do like about the Amazon case is it appears the Voyage sits in it so it's raised up a little making it free from the sides of the case. Thus making it so your hand can freely rest on the page turn buttons without the side of the case getting in the way. At least that's how it appears in the pics.

I do too and almost didn't order the Amazon cover for that reason. In the end, I decided that I was just biased because the opening at the side made it look like a book even if it wasn't really better.


I'm hoping that having the hinge at the top instead of the side will turn out to be an improvement.

I'm trusting Amazon and guessing that it is subtly telling us that since the page turn sensors are at both sides, we really do need a flip top cover. At least I'm hoping so because that's the one I bought

Oh no. Don't confuse me, dear! It's not hard. You know, I started to wonder that when I saw how they raised the Voyage up a bit. I feel myself swaying slightly. hahaha. I'm so pitiful. The thing about Amazon official cases is they always fit so perfectly, it's really hard to top them. Hmmm..

There is a discussion on Amazon about the Belkin cover that makes me think that one will turn the kindle on and off also.

I will also be looking at Ebay covers that open like a book. I had a very pretty case that flipped up for my K4S, and it didn't work out for me at all. I couldn't stand it, but I don't recall what exactly bothered me about it.

In general, I like all my gadget cases to open like books.

This is crazy! The original cover is on auctioned for $90(!!!!) on Ebay

Who would pay this kind of money?!?

Not sure how that follows, you could just as easily fold the current kindle pw case flat to the back of the device and both buttons would be equally accessible if the new one was designed the same way.

Did they copyright the design of the origami covers for the fire last year, it might be the case that they can stop people doing copycat designs with this one, but aren't able to do so with the more book-like covers.

I am still undecided on what case to get, I had ordered the non-leather origami case at the same time that I ordered my voyage, but I have since cancelled that and can't decide between the leather origami or one of the 3rd party offerings yet.

The thing that puts me off that case is definitely the amount that the sides of the case are raised above the device itself, that just seems like it would be much less comfortable to use the page turn sensors than the official one.
