It didn't insult religion in any way, shape or form, Jon. If anything, it validated religion by submitting the rhetoric to religious judgment.

You're just, as with your karma-attack, allowing a personal vendetta to get in the way of reasonable moderation. Rather than trying to drive the entire tone of the forum towards your own personal preference of environment, perhaps in future you can ignore the conversations you personally don't like, rather than making up reasons to "moderate" them.

I believe your objectivity has been lost.

I took a good look at the title and having been on the net for a long time, I've found that it sometimes doesn't tkae much to cause others to feel insulted by something you might think is innocent. I can easily see that some people might have found the topic offensive. It was not changed due to any personal agenda. It was changed to prevent others from seeing it and just leaving. If the word Gods was not used, it would have been ok. But as it was, it can be construed as possibly insulting to some.

Altering and censoring what you believe, hypothetically, "can be construed" by someone for whom it "doesn't take much" to "feel insulted", on the off-chance that that someone - someone who is thus so quick, without further investigation of content - might might end up "seeing it and just leaving", is not offensive to the person who wrote the innocent subject innocently in the first place, not to mention insulting and offensive to all the people who have found no harm in it and posted within the thread themselves without feeling offended by it? The use of the word "Gods" is potentially offensive?! To whom? Atheists? Monotheists? As with the karma-thread, do you feel comfortable broadly insulting real people?
Do you feel comfortable insulting these real people so as to protect from offense some hypothetical people who might so mistakenly, so offensively, take offense without even looking as to whether their offense is justified?

It definitely seems so. If "offense" is the motive, than you are hoisted with your own personal petard.

I know if I was religious enough, I would find it offensive. When it comes to religion, the best thing to do is to leave it alone. Don't do there. It just tends to cause more trouble then it's worth. So even if it was just intended to be something silly and in fun, it can still be taken as offensive when read as it was. The object here is not to make someone feel offended because of his/her beliefs. If I had not had personal issues (offline) to deal with, I would have seen this topic a lot sooner and dealt with it then.

There are religious texts posted here as ebooks. Works by people for whom their moral compass and content of their works was guided by God or gods. There are works here by people who were anti-semites. There are works here by people who were atheists, or whose scientific research is still offensive to some theists. There are plenty of works here that, if you are "religious enough" in whatever particular religion, would cause offense. Should they be removed, lest they cause "offense".

Your censorship is ridiculous, condescending, hypocritical in balance of other threads' content and the forum's ebook content, and, in fact, far more offensive than any misconstrued offense it was most incredibly remotely possible for any hypothetical visitor to take merely from the title. Jon, if you can't see that (and I strongly suspect you can, because my previous experience does not allow me to give your purported motives and these actions any credit other than conflation of your personal desires into philosophy and policy), then you have a significant blind spot within your field of vision.

Your arguments have no credibility with me, Jon.

You Moderate, and so your word is law. There is nothing I can insist upon to make you retract your mistaken actions. You should know, however, that you have made it quite clear to me that it is pointless for me to continue to listen to your attempts to provide reasoning and argument behind your action. To me, it is simply arbitrariness. If you want to continue to attempt to justify yourself, knock yourself out - it'll just be more noise in the wind to me.
