I ordered mine (wi-fi w/so) on September 3rd with 2-day prime and it had a delivery date of 10/2. Early Monday I saw that it had shipped through Lasership with 10/30 delivery date. The serial number is in my account. It didn't come. Then they changed the date on the tracking on Amazon's website to 10/1.

I put my tracking number into Lasership's website. It said they hadn't received my package from shipper as of 9/30 at 3:30pm (they'd received the paperwork Sunday night at 9:30pm). It had no delivery date. Since another Amazon order that included the cover didn't arrive as promised on Saturday, I called Amazon. They say it was lost and I can't get a new paperwhite until 10/15. The order that was lost with the cover had to be re-ordered, they said (on Saturday), and I did that immediately. That order was going to be in the same package with my paperwhite (same Lasership tracking number for all of the items even though the Amazon order numbers were different).

About an hour after I talked to Amazon the first time, I called again and asked to speak with supervisor. I was sent around to 4 other people, the last of which were with Kindle Support. Someone there said they will contact Lasership. They have to be sure that it's missing before they will send me another one. But the first customer service person said it was lost. So I'm not sure what is going on with it, but the last person has me hoping that I might get it this week.

I am surprised that they are so sloppy about this. That is why I called them again. For the second call I was on the phone for over an hour (sometimes on hold). I am not a happy customer.

Terrible ordeal. im not sure why they can't just overnight a new Kindle to you and worry about the details of it later. The only thing I can see here is you mentioned Prime 2 day was the original order for the Kindle. Perhaps there is still a chance you will get it on time. I had Amazon email me that a shopment was lost once but lo and behold received it the next day. Hang in there, I think it will get worked out.

Don't give up hope. Lasership cannot be worse than the US Post Office. That's how mine is coming if they don't shut down tomorrow due to the deadlock in Washington, DC.

Sounds like some FedEx and Lasership SNAFUs are occurring. I've never heard of Lasership, but FedEx has gotten really bad in my neck of the woods. They used to have really good tracking but now it sucks. UPS seems to have the best tracking now.

All you guys need to remember that in the past two, or more, years that during the initial shipments of a new Kindle the Amazon website has been painfully slow to update. I think it gets overwhelmed. It is not uncommon to receive the Kindle before the Amazon website indicates it has shipped.

The Post Office is NOT funded by the Treasury, so it is NOT affected by the shutdown. So for the USPS it will be situation normal, that is, slow as an arthritic snail with a walker.

I have Amazon Prime and MOST of my orders come in ONE DAY while Amazon always projects two days. Last year one of my Kindles was just dropped at my door late at night and I picked it up when going for the newspaper early in the morning. That one came 2 days ahead of the Amazon projection.

This year there may be problems for those getting the FEDEX / Smartpost delivery. Congress deadlocked last night and all Federal offices are now gradually closing due to a lack of a budget. As of now, the Post Office is still open but they could be closed tomorrow if funds run out.

Amazon is NOT responsible for unexpected government shut downs.

Mine is out for delivery today! I hope the mailman isn't too lazy to ring my doorbell. I think 10% of my USPS packages are (not) delivered by a lazy mailman who can't be bothered to ring my doorbell and just marks it as Notice Left (even if they don't leave the yellow note) and then I have to ask them to re-deliver it the next day. Then I get to talk to the non-lazy mailman about how lazy the previous mailman is.

The house I lived in previously had super lazy USPS contractors delivering the mail. I was waiting outside next to the mailbox one day waiting for a package. The mail delivery person arrived, put the mail in the box and promptly drove away. No package though, just a note saying she attempted to deliver the package but no one was home! WTF!! I was standing right there, so she obviously made no attempt to deliver it. Turns out that she would not even bring packages that were too big for a mailbox. Instead she just made notes and put them in the mailboxes. I went to my local PO (to retrieve the package) and demanded to speak with the manager. I told her what had happened and that it happened a lot. After that I got my packages delivered to my front door like they should have been all along.

order mine on Sept 3, super save shipping, schedule for Oct7-10.

Two days ago the order changed to shipping now, then back to not shipped yet, seems it is not just slow shipping, but also the ship date gives way to those prime members.

What's more funny is on "your order" page, the PW2 thumbnail icon changes from paperwhite to kindle keyboard.
