I would certainly hope not. In some countries, it's even illegal to convert from one religion to another! (Not mentioning any names mentioned here, as this isn't P&R.) That would certainly set a bad precedent.

You can't - it needs to be illegal in both places. But it's not clear that linking to copyrighted material is necessarily legal in the UK, although certain other criminal cases involving linking have been dismissed in the UK. I don't know enough about the other cases to know to what extent they were different - the linking in this case may have been more blatant or more focused on copyrighted material, for example. Apparently the site made $230,000 in the 10 months it was in operation.

I think life +30 should be the upper limit for copyright. After that, the kids can go out and get a job of their own, and the corporations can come up with a new idea.
