I haven't had any problems pressing buttons on webpages in my KT.. What sites have you had problems with? Maybe you just have to zoom in a little for the button to be large enough to detect your press.

As for highlighting and posting to Facebook I think as of .12 it is still only a feature available for kepub books.

Yes, I have 2 actually, my own personal one, and one just purchased last week for my Daugher's birthday. I never updated my profile, don't really see that as something important to do...

As an ereader, it's a great device. As a "personal library" it has a long way to go, IMHO. I can't imagine that iPods would have ever gotten so popular if you couldn't organize, categorize, slice and dice thousands of songs, albums and artists. This seems to be fairly basic functionality for any digital device, again IMHO. I can't understand why ereaders don't provide it.

Cheers

MicroSD card problems for me too. We have two Kobo Touch readers at our home and both readers are updated to the newest 1.9.12 firmware and the returning to home screen on page turns on reading any epub or kepub still happens on both devices.

I already did reset one device and went through a full update process and even reformatted my one of my SD cards and loaded the books on it to to have no luck resolving this issue.

My cards are cheap PNY cards which I got from amazon last week.

http://www.amazon.com/PNY-MicroSD-Cl...8597298&sr=8-1

I have three of these "PNY 2GB Class 4" MicroSD cards and all cards will cause the same problem.

All you need to do in-order to reproduce the problem on either device is:

1. Inert a MicroSD card in the device.

2. Open a book on the MicroSD card or on the device internal storage. (kepub or epub).

3. Wait approximately 1 minute. ** The delay is important, otherwise the pages will turn as long as you keep tapping next page or previous page.

4. Tap next page and the book closes and brings me back to the home screen. Every time on both devices at my home.

I have smaller than default font size and line spacing on my setup. My slow and dyslexic reading requires at least a minute to read the page. I can not read and turn even one page without being kicked out to the home screen.

If I read a book that is on the SD card, it is even worse. Sometimes all the books on the SD card disappears from the device. I have to unplug and re-plug in the SD card to see the books again. It is horrible. I am thinking of downgrading one device to 1.9.10 to see if I can survive with it and still use the books on my SD cards.

On another note, does anyone else find having to go through a menu to access the dictionary annoying? I may be just the lazy type who dislike extra tapping. I liked the way you could simply tap a single button and access the dictionary on 1.9.9 and earlier firmware, prior to the introduction of the translation feature. Just a thought: if we must go through a single menu every time to do something to a selected word why have the menu closed once the word is selected. It would make much more sense to have the menu kept open.

I still love this device. The feel and clarity of this unit is very nice. That is why we have two in our home. Hopefully this really crippling SD card problem will be fixed soon.
Hi,

New to this forum. Joined up while looking for a solution to my problem with the Kobo Touch. My issue is exactly the same as above - sideloaded epubs work for about one or two page turns, then spontaneously bookmark and return to the Home menu. At this point, all books on the card have disappeared from the library, and the card must be reinserted to see them again.

This only started happening after the mid October update. I reformatted and loaded my card, carefully ejected it from my PC, even factory reset the Kobo and it continues to happen.

I've sent a message to Kobo's help desk but haven't received any response yet.

Help Kobo! I know non-Kobo epubs are a lower priority, but this seems to be basic SD card functionality that's messed up!

The current beta fixes it. The release version is coming; I just don't know when.

Yeah I did understand for kepubs but I was on Facebook at the time and couldn't even press on any buttons how many millions of times I tried which indicated to me that the kobo just can't press those buttons.

After reading with 1.9.12 for the last month, my impression is that the dead tap/double page turn issue is the same as previously. For me it happens about once in 15-20 page turns. I wonder why Kobo hasn't fixed this yet? It's a pretty clear problem, and the fix would seem to be unambiguous - just don't recognize a 2nd finger-down when the previous finger-down was not matched by a finger-up. Maybe their problem is that they don't have control over the manufacturer-supplied touch-screen driver, and it was set up as a multi-touch system.

That's good to know.. My KT tends to run slow since I have so many books installed.. Is it possible to have a setting to have KT install kepubs to the SD card? Or better yet, place the image files for book covers and such for ebooks on the SD card in a folder on the SD card.. I think that is part of what is eating my KT available space. The majority of my ebooks are on my 8GB SD card but the image files created and place in the .kobo/images folder (4 for each book from what I see) is taking a lot of space.

I have no idea if it is possible, Xennex. I know that it is no a current option. Kobo doesn't share what is on their development map. Maybe you can PM one of the Kobo folks here and ask?

I have purchased a whole lot of Kobo books. Currently I do not store them all on my Touch. I have about 29 kepubs and a dozen or so DRM free ePubs on the device. The rest are all nicely backed up elsewhere.

Have you tried your wireless connection since? Or tried another hotspot?

I periodically get a Network error message but I try a little later and often it works. I suspect that one reason you may get that is the server that you have access to in your area was busy when the error was generated.

The past few weeks have had many people (including myself) encountering network errors, magazine and newspaper subscriptions going on the fritz, books disappearing from devices and the desktop, and sometimes even disappearing from the kobo.com account itself. Those problems have been largely remedied this past weekend. At least in my area.

Hey guys, I was just thinking that maybe the Kobo developers are now working on a more stable firmware that will include new improvements all together instead of getting new firmwares every one-two weeks and try to accomplish more updates to make us all happy.
At least, that's something I like to think...

Apart from that, I raised an issue regarding a problem I have when restarting the device and it's that the screen is unresponsive for some reason. I have to wait 20 seconds until I can actually use the screen to enter the book I'm reading or to browse through my library.
Has anyone else experienced that?

Hmm. I have at times experienced a prolonged period of unresponsiveness when first starting up my KT from Off mode. But I just attributed that to the unusually large number of ebooks I have on my KT and SD card.. (1913 ebooks today).
