Got no problem with people reporting problems with devices they actually own or have owned.
But I wouldn't go on the Kindle forum and start bad-mouthing a device I have no experience with. I have my own reasons for choosing a Sony over a Kindle (I don't like closed systems, for one thing), but no way would I go on a Kindle forum and start a thread about how horrible it is. That's just rude. Apparently a few people here disagree - which is your right. But it's also my right to point out when I believe someone is acting trollish. |

ETA: and it is NOT just someone who doesnt own a T1 who is greatly exaggerating the problems. In fact many people have told you that owners are having problems. Vxf's thread was inquiring whether all these reported problems (which he did not make up, nor did he state that he had such problems, he stated up front that he does not own a T1 but the reports were worrying him) changed people's views on Sony. Well, for me, it does. at least to the extent that I'm not willing to buy a T1 until a firmware upgrade solves the problem for the MANY people who are reporting the problem. It may of course be exaggerated to some extent and maybe the sample we have does not represent even a tenth of the users. still, compare this to the Kindle forums where people aren't reporting freezing. My 505 doesn't freeze, except on poorly formatted or otherwise problematic books. I don't intend on jumping on the T1 wagon before I hear the problem is acknowledged and addressed by Sony. This doesn't make me a troll. Just because I don't own the T1 doesn't mean I can't read reviews. Last edited by seajewel; 10-27-2011 at 11:27 PM. |

Everybody should be entitled to their own opinion. but from my short time on the Sony forum, I've seen a lot of negativity come from individuals on various threads who, as Khalleron has said, do not even own the item in question. If you don't like the item fine, but must you go on about it on various threads. It does get old after a while.
The negativity that is coming out on this thread is really bad. If someone is said to have the right to state their dissatisfaction, then others who do not have any dissatisfaction should be able to state theirs without repulsing anyone. This is just a forum people. It's not the be all to end all and we mostly are all adults here. That's my opinion. YMMV... |

as to your point about negativity by people who don't own the item in question, we can agree to disagree. Personally, like I said, I think people can express dissatisfaction over other people's reports of bugs, problems, reviews without being labeled a troublemaker. but maybe we haven't been reading the same threads, because I really haven't seen much of troublemaking negativity here, but I've seen a lot of accusations of that. ETA: I apologize if I'm going over the top with rhetoric here. I do feel strongly about this issue because I feel the attacks going on were unwarranted, and based off of vague, and verifiably untrue statements about vxf starting "multiple threads" badmouthing Sony, "trollish behavior" and soforth. My T1 has frozen 6 times in two weeks, and has completely crashed twice, with daily usage. The freezing affects the touch capabilities only, while the buttons are still responsive. If you leave the T1 alone for long enough (at least 20 mins) after freezing, it will become responsive again without a reset.
I really like the T1 despite these problems. Sony really should release some sort of patch to fix these issues, though.... |

But the "How do you fell about sony" topic is. Saying "Woo, this is very very bad" acting as if this was the end of the world. 1 ) He never experienced the issue so.. 2 ) Nobody (not even sony), would know how many reader are affected by this issue and how critical it it. I hope Sony will issue a firmware update, because I do like it too, but I'd like it even more if it didn't crash. |

I had 2 PRS-T1 and I had a good contact with Sony on the sony Support, and a lot of relative input, but a fool has put the links to the Sony hacks on that forum part to, Suggesting it was better to install the Kindle emulator.
If I was looking to a Kindle, I would buy a Kindle, not hack my Sony. We are just so far that I had 2 people with different firmware together and try to find out of it really was a problem in the Sony software, or the interaction with the firmware between the android kernel. Maybe there is no difference in the Sony firmware at all, but a difference in the Android Kernel on with both are running. As a result of linking to the hack, and to mention the Kindle, Sony deleted the Thread ( I can't blame them ) and I lost contact with the 2 people. I can't order a new T1 myself because I have to wait until the webshop has received my 2 and booked as return. (yes I can go to another webshop, but this webshop gives me 2 weeks before I have to pay,and that is always better then try to get your money back afterwards) Only thing in my mind is..why..., everybody can wait for a topic to be erased when you post the links to the hacks and the Kindle emulator. Problem with another topic is that someone acts like an owner, but is only reading topics, put out the "best" of it, and presents them as his own expierience ( sorry,my english is not to good, so sorry if I make mistakes). If people like that, post it to Sony... then this doesn't really help. I had a really good contact with the administrator, but all of that is gone now. I think it is now sit and wait. I've been using mine daily for a few weeks now. No problems until tonight it switched to a blank page with the circular arrows in the center and would blink every few seconds. All buttons were unresponsive so ended up having to reset. I love it but am hoping this isn't the start of an issue.
