What kind of batteries does the light source use?

But if it gets damaged or it's a defective LED, it would be nice to be able to replace it.

Hi pholy, have you got the Luxe version? It would be great if you can share your experience.
I wanted to check how my T-1 fits into the Luxe and the built-in light versions, so I went to two branches of Thalia bookstore, an official distributor of Gecko in Germany. One told me the covers were sold out very quickly, and the other simply has not gotten any cover for T-1 yet. It seems that there are still many T-1 owners who would like to buy the cover in a real store , like me, and Gecko doesn't produce and deliver the covers fast enough. Or maybe I'm just not patient enough.

It would be nice if someone can do a Luxe + Light review.

Also has anyone purchased a Gecko case in Canada? How was your shopping experience? Did you have pay any custom tax over certain $ value?

According to the site, it uses "button" style batteries. That is a deal breaker for me, since they are harder to find/replace. I will stick with the official Sony lighted cover which uses a single AAA.

Sorry folks, I got distracted... My Gecko Luxe arrived early this past week, about one week for shipping into Canada. It came in the post, looking like a fat envelope, and no extra charges.
It feels like soft leather on the outside, the inside feels like soft suede; it's really comfortable to hold. The cover folds back easily and gets out of the way. There are two pockets that could hold flat things like microSD cards or credit cards.
The reader is held in very securely by a flap that folds underneath the reader at the crease, and is held there by a Velcro® patch.
It's much less expensive than the Sony covers and much more attractive, in my opinion.

That looks even better than the Gecko basic cover. Might need to invest in one I reckon

Very nice. I wasn't thinking of getting a Gecko before, but I'm really liking how the Luxe looks on the inside. I might choose this over what Tuff-Luv is coming out with.

i was looking around for cases for my prs t1 but its really hard to find any alternatives in nz (where im from) and i ended up purchasing the official case - its actually really attractive and i love that its got a custom fit for the reader.

only thing i noticed is taht on the gooseneck for the light where it bends, the paint would start peeling... has anyone else noticed this? luckily its only been 1 week so the store immediately gave me an exchange phew.

Thanks for your info pholy. That's a really nice cover. Hmmm I don't know if I will make use of light feature.... so I'm seriously considering Luxe case now.

Get the light. You may think you won't use it. But you will use it more then you think.

Yeah, those pictures are great. I'm seriously considering getting a Luxe now.

I notice that Gecko also offers a version of the Luxe with a light that looks like it's attached to the back and flips over the top of the device when you want to use it. Does anyone have one of these cases? How bulky is the little compartment on the back that stashes the light when not in use?

There are some aspects of this case's design that I prefer over the standard Luxe--there are no pockets on the inside of the cover; the Luxe w/light uses integral magnets to keep the cover closed instead of a strip that wraps around and fastens with a snap; and while I've never had to use an attached light to read, I think it's nice to have the option if I need it. But I like a cover that's smooth on the exterior, so I'm suspicious of the external pocket that holds the light in place on the back.

@pholy: thanks a lot for the information and the pictures . T-1 looks fitting quite well into the Gecko Luxe, and as everyone else said, it looks very nice.

After reading with my T-1 over the weekend, I found out that built-in light is essential to me because my eyes are bad. It is worth investing some money in a cover with light. Besides, I throw everything in my backpack, so a stylus holder would be helpful to find the stylus back easily. In the end, I gave up the idea to try out how T-1 fits into a real cover before buying and ordered the Gecko Luxe with built-in light online. I will post some pictures after I receive the cover.
