love what you guys are doing with the software... just told a buddy of mine i wanted to have sex with it lol... a suggestion for the jobs... can you add a sort feature to the fields so for example the status can be sorted...for errors. and the ability to multi select copy out of it so it can be pasted into a file to be worked on later. |

@Fiacha: As your post has nothing to do with 0.8 I suggest opening a separate thread for it. And generally speaking, use the variosu options availabe in the calibre menu(click the arrow next to the calibre icon on the toolbar and look at library maintenance). @penguinaka: Making that list sortable/copyable is rather more work than I feel motivated to do. But patches are welcome @speakingtohe: Try 0.7.58 |

I would guess a permissioning issue on your local calibre configuration directory.

Thanks, Kiki. That's not the issue: the issue was that after Pressing OK in the Edit Tweaks dialogue, I was closing the Preferences and Calibre windows with the keyboard: Alt-F4. Now that I noticed that one must click Apply, I did so and the setting stuck. I suggest that if one close the window without clickin Apply that he get a warning. Mouse Maids might notice the Apply button, but keyboard users instinctively use the shortcut. Thanks! |

Wow, the new cover download dialogue is terrific! That is the feature that made me want to try 0.8.x, and it is near perfect. One suggestion: if there are no results found, parse the title for "[eE]dition$" (check if it ends in the word "edition") and if so remove the edition information ("first edition", "1st edition") then retry the search. I had to remove that bit from my titles (and put them in a new column) for the feature to find any covers. Thanks! |

@dotancohen: The code already removes any edition information provided it is in brackets. I'm not convinced that removing the word edition and its previous word if it is the last word in the title is always safe.

It's not. I have a book titled "Beginning Java 2, SDK 1.4 Edition" for instance. That's why I suggest only using the trimmed version iff there was no match on the non-trimmed version. And _never_ alter the title, just use the trimmed title for the lookup of metadata (such as a cover).

You can control whether titles are overwritten with the downloaded result or not. Given the architecture of the download system, decisions on whether to re-lookup after further sanitizing title/author metadata is upto individual metadata download plugins.
