2)It is absolutely the same as 902, because our touchscreen lies behind the actual screen and thus doesn't influence the appearance of the screen 3)Depends. If you do a lot of browsing, it is, If you need your device for reading only, you do not need the touchscreen at all. |

Hi everyone, thanks for the helpful replies. The reports on battery life are very encouraging!
Regarding battery replacement, I meant to ask if it is going to be a huge pain like with Amazon's Kindle, where the standard procedure is to send it in to Amazon, wait several days (weeks?) and pay around US$60. Of course a bolder person can just do it themselves newpower99.com-style, but one hopes that the battery just pops out, as in a laptop. Does it? |

EDIT: 902 does not have USB host connector, So I change "Definitely" to "I do not think so" Probable? I do not think so. Would I purchase the device in hope that it *might* acquire some promised feature? Definitely NOT. Would I recommend you or anybody else to buy a device based on promises of representatives of company that sell the device? Definitely *NOT*. Would it be possible to add support for external Bluetooth devices? A keyboard, and or mouse springs to mind

After a couple of days with my reader, I have to say that I agree with the gripe about margins. It's bad enough when words go right up to the edge of the display, but when reading EPUBs in double page mode under the Adobe viewer, the top line gets partially cut off. So, I second the request for user-defined margins for reflowable text.

With the right lighting and the right angle I can't even believe it is glass. Seriously. No way to tell. On the other hand, it is possible to catch the reflection of lights or the sun on it, if you want to do so. 3. I need the device for reading books only and I don't need a touchscreen of any kind, especially of the kind that is able to scratch the screen with a pen, if the pen does not get lost, that is (I read about a scratched screen of an iRex device, the irony - with a premium quality Wacom pen, costs extra). Still, some kind of a bluetooth remote for turning pages would be welcome. Especially when playing music with both hands, a bluetooth pedal for turning pages. Also, I have nothing against a bluetooth mouse and bluetooth keyboard for 902 either, although I might not need them frequently. Besides, maybe a bluetooth mouse or keyboard can be configured (some keys or buttons remapped) to act as a remote for turning pages. Last edited by parkher; 12-28-2010 at 02:11 AM. |

That's the most common use I have for my Bluetooth mouse. There's no reason the Bluetooth enabled Pocketbook readers couldn't support this, but it's not in the firmware as yet, as far as I know. This function should be easier than the full keyboard support, as there would be only a few buttons, no modifiers or language specific keymaps.

I was deciding between pb 902, pb 903 and hanlin a9… PB 902 was the first available, i didn't need touchscreen, e-ink seemed better than sipix for me… But you can always throw the dice ;-)

have you had a look at this review of Asus. Also, message 112 by Dulin in this thread has sipix vs e-ink screen pictuers. For me, Asus looks too dark, but I have already voted with my feet ![]() Apparently, Hanlin (Sipix) is also out |

thanks for all of you for your quick answers. Just a few more if you do not mind. 1. As far as I could find the 903 model is available in black and white. Does it makes any difference on the eye? I mean on the reading and eye strain. 2. I ll meanly use it for 50% reading books and 50% internet browsing. So the internet browser capability is it good and stable enough? And how fast is it? Ok i m not waiting for miracles and Adobe Flash. 3. For the price of 902 I can get the new Asus. But it has the Sipix screen. So is there such a difference so to give an extra Euros so to get the 903? (since I need a touch screen to browse the internet - unless I can connect a mouse wireless/bluetooth/usb). Thanks |
