For what it's worth, moving from what I referred to as the old home town to where I'm currently located would be like@tubemonkey moving from Seattle to Nogales, Az. At least here, I'm south of Anchorage, Juneau, Nome, Whitehorse and Yellowknife and the sun stays over the horizon for a while every day.

Jan. 1st in NYC: very rainy, especially tonight. 55 degrees during the day and 54 now. We get no heat once the temp hits 50 or above, so it is starting to feel cold inside from two days of 50s weather. We have had no sunshine for several days.

The high temperature for the day was 58° F -- which is far too warm for early January. Our overnight low was 53°, which was still more than 15 degrees warmer than the average high for this time of year.

It was overcast with gusty winds, but at least the rains have ended.

We're due for more sun tomorrow and the temperature should be closer to "normal".

Yesterday's high temperature for the day was 58°F -- today's high was 32°F. Last night's snowstorm skirted just south of us. They were revising the forecast through the night. We got a dusting -- just south of us some friends are digging out from under a few inches.
