Well to add my two cents in what is going on. I have an old kindle keyboard that has all my purchased books on it and a few favs I borrowed before it went away (it is not connected any more to WiFi). I also have a “new” kindle I use to read my latest unlimited books on. I also use the kindle app on my windows 11 desktop. So far I can “keep” a copy of my “latest” purchases rather easily in a separate file on my computer separate from the kindle “app”. And yes I have countinued to remove the DrM on my purchased books. Hopefully kindle will be real real slow in making changes to the kindle for PC app making it more difficult to isolate my purchased books and keep a safe copy.

Kindle for PC app is going away at the end of June. It will be replaced with the Windows store app.
