It does succeed eventually. You get the failed condition because the system is trying to finish the download and the MS Servers are busy. When the download has completed, you will get a notice that it is ready to install. Shows up in the lower right where the MS icon is located.

I think the reason for the error in my case is because I haven't actually requested the upgrade.

I just opened LibreOffice on my 8.1 --> 10 laptop (my newest, primary machine) and got a pop up that said something like"Windows had a problem. You machine will reboot in one minute. Save your work."
I had no other information as to what the problem was and no way to cancel or postpone the reboot. At least not obvious. I haven;t researched or checked event logs yet.

I am not happy about that. I'm not happy there was a problem that required a reboot, first of all, but I'm especially not happy that I was not given enough info or the ability to postpone the reboot.

I'm also not thrilled with how slow W10 is to restart and finish booting.

Hmm. Might have to consider that revert to 8.1 option before the month is out.

I used to have that happen with my Window 7 computer. It has not happened with the one running Win 10. I will probably update another computer to 10 this weekend. Between my house and store I have six more to update to 10.

Yeah, it came back up.....still wasn't able to get any details from MS, but a couple of things.

on my desktop, in addition to the update notification, it notified me to 'Get Office' grrrrrr!
(I've got a legit 2010 version installed)

and

on my laptop where I have a MS Word 'Starter' version it popped up a message saying something about 'If this program is not working correctly run 'repair' in your settings' .... What???

Seems they are really pushing this Office thing....

I've got Office 2013 and they aren't nagging me to get 365 - just as well because when I upgraded to 2013, it was from 2003 so it'll be a while yet
