True, but at many libraries, the qualifications for a "resident" library card often includes working in the jurisdiction served by the library, or owning property there.

Here's a rant I haven't seen yet in this thread:

Authors who feel the need…to make every…speech by…any character…seem like they are Christopher Walken…or William Shatner.

Even when the text between the ellipses is far longer than my example, some authors basically turn every paragraph into a single run-on sentence.

In a cozy mystery I'm reading:

"Meow!" Elvis [the cat] said loudly.

For some reason, I imagined the cat saying that in a human voice...

Not sure if this is appropriate for the reading vent thread. Also it's not new. But James Patterson.

Yesterday I was shopping at Target and checked their very small (one aisle) book secition and in the front area there were something live five or six different James Patterson branded novels. The guy isn't a writer, he is a marketer.

Where it seems he sometime teams up with other Authors. He may just be acting more of an editor on those

I couldn't say for sure that the books that sport his name solo are ghost written (though I suspect they are). But all of the books I've seen from Patterson for the past few years are written by JAMES PATTERSON and someone else. Those I know he doesn't write.

I also expect that the stunt celebrity coauthored books (Dolly Parton and Bill Clinton) are not written by Patterson or the celebrity.

My hubby says he's not going to let me hang out with youze guys anymore...for some days now, I keep walking 'round the joint and breaking out into laughs/giggles, saying "posh chairs..."

LOLOL. That one may stick with me a looooooooooooong time.

Highfalutin' is up there too. I like that one! And I agree...if I heard that, without decades of Brit reading under my belt, I would probably think something similar. Pretty sure I ENVER would have come up with the chairs thing, though. That? That takes something we should call DI. Dumb Intelligence--the Oxymoron.
