For example, I couldn't download the book, put it on my mp3 player and listen to it in my car on my commute or while traveling? |

You can transfer Audible books to numerous MP3 players. See their Device Center for a list of compatible devices. |

Books can be listened to on your computer or an Audible compatible device such as an iPod or some other MP3 players and there are apps for iOS, Windows Phone and Android... http://www.audible.com/mt/Apps I listen to them in my car to and from work almost every day. The books are DRM'd so it's no quite the same as buying an MP3 download from somewhere and doing whatever with it (unless you make a DRM-free copy). There is also Downpour (and a couple others?) that do DRM-free books, but don't have the selection that Audible has. Last edited by AnemicOak; 12-23-2013 at 02:38 PM. |

Depends. If you have a compatible device it's very simple. If not, then no. Last edited by AnemicOak; 12-23-2013 at 03:00 PM. |

<Sigh> You NEVER own someone else's intellectual property, you ALWAYS license it. It's not new, it's not an evil plot. Get used to the idea, get over it, move on.

Thanks for the info. I just went and looked, but I have no ipod, so I don't use itunes or else I'd have to buy Nero. I guess it's music in the car and ebooks for me. Thanks for the help! |

What MP3 player do you own? I have several Sansa Clips (Clip+ and Clip Zip) and have no difficulty getting Audible books on them.

Archos. It's basically a glorified hard drive with player software. I can only root it to add software written specifically for it, I can't add external software.

The Sansa Clips are highly recommended by MR members and used by quite a few of us. |

IIRC many Archos work with WMA DRM. If you have a public library that offers audiobook downloads (OverDrive does DRM'd WMA or MP3 depending) that might be an option for you. |

I'll look into it though, thanks! |
