Most places in the US, or at least every place I have been agrees with you, so does Wikipedia, and dictionary.com, and others; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flapjack : A thick pancake, referred to as this particularly in United States and Canada Other the places use it differently, but here in US its a pancake. ![]() |

A couple of months ago I had to do a blood test on empty stomach. I didn't eat from 19.00 till 14.00 the next day. I cannot go without food for more than 3-4 hours (except night time). So, when they released me, I crawled to the Addenbrookes hospital's shop, found flapjack bars. Read its content, realised it is a power booster and tried it ![]() Since then, it became my staple diet on weekdays. For a branch with white yoghurt. Roughly 350kcal per bar. My OH doesn't like them. She says they are sickly sweet, which is true. It does the job though ![]() ![]() They are sweet. I think I will have to give up on them within a month or two. I don't know why but my stomach or liver? develop a strong dislike for very sweet food. Hence I love palmiers on weekend mornings. They are dry dry dry... ![]() Cuppa #7 Bojenmi |

Emptied the cellar, so we can carry all those boxes to the new house. Next step: go through the old toys in the kids rooms and prepare boxes to go to friends with smaller kids and the church.
My new kitchen is a dream. Diet pepsi, watching the news (I don't like TV at all, but it is good for my spanish) |

I bought a bottle of mead when we went to the honey shop in Tasmania last June. A very sweet liqure. It's fermented from honey and I tried about four varieties before choosing the one we did. All were lovely.
Time to get out of bed and boil the billy. I think I'll have a coffee to wake me up. Apparently there's 43 beans in every cup. |

tried mead once, much too sweet for me.
It is pouring rain right now, as in mousson-like, which means the summer season is now officially over and we will get those rainy days (that last usually around 5 days, more or less) regularly. Good for the plants, and the fire risk goes down, but it also means the "no electricity" season has arrived, which of course I hate. Coffee in my cup, gearing up to step. |

We rented rooms where they were available in a small village 5 miles from the coast. Some times we were very lucky, some times not that lucky, but the people were and are very very friendly and generous with their unbelievable vegetable gardens. Played tennis in the morning, shopped for fresh food, went to the beach on bycicle, played with the big ocean waves, came back, if hungry had a late lunch, a siesta, some touring around, either on bycicle or on roller skates, then an apero, usually at home, as there are no bars in the village, just a bakery and a small supermarket and a bookstore, and we went out for dinner, most of the times, but some times we grilled a huge steak or stuffed ourselves with Fois Gras that we got fresh from a nearby butcher, by car at this point, then to see a movie at the magic Le Cinema de Contis. Once in a while we drove South to see a Corrida de Toros, or the ancient shows of dancing in the horns of cows that those people still enjoy. Great holidays... haaaa. Well chaque chose a son temp. They both are somehow richer in flavors and aromas than mead, although I think that making mead from a rich honey, preserving the original flower origins, could give very interesting results. |
