Hi,

I tried installing this on my Kobo Touch (fw 3.3.0), with the "start menu" install, and the latest nghtly build.
The start menu works, and koreader lauches, but is not usable : the touch screen isn't working properly. It looks like when I touch a point, it detects a touch at some other point. It's like it's reverting/mixing the x and y axis....

Any way to fix this ? Thanks !

Version 673.

The crashes to KSM seems to have gone.
Search and browse Tags and Series work OK.
Going to suspend takes more time than before (661)
Returning from suspend some times doesn't happen, some times with the second try leaves and go again in suspend.
When it does come out, the margins are changed, so is on a different page.
If I restart Koreader, the margins are back at been OK but I'm still in the wrong page it went before.
Overall I little sluggish.
Returning to 661.

Edit defaults.lua (or better, create a new file defaults.persistent.lua in the same directory) and add the line
KOBO_TOUCHED_MIRRORED = true

Chrox build in a new function to get the cover image which renders the book and gives back the first page.
This works also on PDF (not just epub), but is slower than my old version (which got the cover image directly from the epub). That's why suspending takes longer. The return delay you noticed just means that the device was not ready for you, the first try was not lost but the second try brought it back to sleep.
Yes, there is still an issue that after suspend not all settings are restored. Instead of closing/reopening you can also e.g. turn the mini bar off and on again through the bottom menu, or any other change of the settings.

But agreed, the current version is still too buggy...

I hope that there will be a setting for this, cause I liked the way it worked before.
I like having my custom cover instead of the first page (just lines of letters some times) of books with no covers.

It worked, thanks !

Another question now that I can use it : does koreader support soft Hyphens ?

Version 675 seems to behave OK.
In a quick first test the problems of previous versions seems to be resolved.

Hmmm...

Just updated to koreader-nightly-20140828 and tried setting open last book on startup.

Nice little box in the middle of the screen stating

File /mnt/sd/eLibrary/Spencer, Wen/Wood Sprites - Wen Spencer.epub does not exist.

Oddly, I can browse to the file and it still opens happily in it's non-existent state.

Regards,
David

Don't know what the "does not exist" is about, but better update to 675, much better than 673 (nightly of today).
I still see some unreproducable crashes, but at least the new errors are all gone.

There needs to be a delay added to the call. If you exit back to the Start Menu and start koreader again it will be found. Or just select it from the History menu. I just try and remember to wait a few seconds before launching Koreader. I am sure the koreader team will notice this soon and fix it in an upcoming nightly.

Luck;
Ken

I can't exit back to the start menu. I run koreader from advboot so I need to power cycle to re-run koreader. This is the first time I tried using the open last book setting and it was a bit weird to be informed the book I was reading could not be found. I cycled 4 times and got the same message each time.

When I dismissed the error message and opened the ebook from history, it worked.

Located and installed 675. Still the same error when opening on startup.

Regards,
David

Edit: Removed "udevadm trigger" question. (Added "udevadm trigger -t" to the koreader launch script but if I launch koreader right after a reboot or right after the Start Menu is up, I still get the "doesn't exist" message.)

If I reboot and count to five, after the Start Menu appears, then select Koreader the message is that it is opening the book. Perhaps you could try waiting in advboot's menu ~5 seconds, then launch Koreader and see if you still get that message.

Luck;
Ken

I also have SD card trouble, I run koreader from fmon, runs flawlessly, but after exit nickel doesn't recognise the sd card, it must be taken out then inserted, so probably somehow it becomes unmounted. Can this be solved somehow? (Waiting for some seconds didn't help. Or I was too impatient.)

Update: after inserting SD card books can't be opened due to DRM, resolved only after power cycle.

(KOReader most recent, firmware 3.8.0)

I have a kobo mini, so no sdcard here to test, but I found the DRM error in the internal storage too, every time I open a document from koreader and try to open it again with nickel without a reboot. The error always says DRM but all my documents are DRM free, and doesn't affect kepubs or pocket articles (or any other documents that I always open with nickel)

The sdcard issue seems odd to me, because koreader doesn't mount or umount any partition. In fact sdcard partition is mounted read-only in both nickel and koreader during normal operation (can be exported as rw with file storage gadget module, but this only happens if you're on nickel, connected via usb and you confirm that)
