The breads had no 'crumb!' They had no crust! They were blocks of bread that smelled great, tasted sort of OK, but had no texture what so ever! Unless something has changed in the last couple of years with the machines, they are NOT something for me. I know a lot of folks love them... but a lot of folks love commercial tea bags too. LOL! ![]() ... and the German food, French, Mexican, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Creole, Fast foods, junk foods, all foods that taste good! French fries and pizza, Doner Kebabs and baklava! At my age, I no longer care about my weight. If I put on 20 kilos because I kept my tongue happy... I'm happy! I no longer have the need to look good. Now I just want to feel good. I'll joyfully throw away my scale, throw away the mirrors, etc., etc., etc. When I die, I want to be able to say "I ate what made me happy!" As for health... Should I choose to live long or live happy? Me, I choose happy. I've already lived lives full enough for five men. If I were to die tomorrow there is no one who could say I had not lived! ![]() Stitchawl Last edited by Stitchawl; 10-18-2011 at 09:11 AM. |

If you mean German white bread then you are right. But white is white everywhere. Be it Japan, Spain or anywhere else in world. It clogs up your system. What about German ray bread? Ray bread is very good for your health and German one is the best of the best ![]() |

![]() I am afraid must disagree. I have tried home made bread cooked in front of me in two households. Both families have exceptionally good cooks. In one of them, in Scotland, only the professional (his son) could be his rival. Both hosts raved about their home made breads in these special machines. I ate them. The bread was OK. Surely better than white bread from a supermarket. Was it great? Not even close. The ray bread that I purchase on the local gourmet market once per week is fantastic indeed. They come to our town once per week. I adore two of their ray breads. Pumpernickel bread, 95% ray and 5% pumpernickel. The other one is 95% ray and 5% sourdough. I also really like their Spelt bread. Eating it, heated in a bread taster with a touch of spread is like having a desert and their sourdough bread is very good too. Any of the four breads I mentioned are much much better than home made bread I have tried. However, what is very important is any of them is an infinitely better choice for your health than any bread made from wheat. ![]() |

And it's only a library. Even if it was an Embassy, I still don't think that it is necessary for them to keep my ID card whenever I go in there. Just check it, see if I'm a criminal, get my name registered - that's okay. But I don't feel right to let anyone keep my own ID card for hours. I'm a civilized person, I don't need watching. I'm not about to set the whole place on fire, or massacre the librarians, to be honest. |

I guess you are right and it depends on the country. It is difficult for me to judge because I have a bit different background. I worked as a security officer. Checking cars entering a car park in big shopping mall in Israel. Opening boots, checking that the car doesn't sit too low without an apparent reason. Checking IDs if in doubt etc. Silly silly.... Another problem that I have read about is that people use regular flour for making bread in bread machines. You should use flour that is marked as "bread" flour (especially for the white flour) or stone ground for your wheat flour. This adds texture and makes the bread that much better. |

Meanwhile, fresh squeezed orange juice in the glass. The last of the California Valencias, the season is about over. On to navels, which are often sweeter, but rarely have as good a flavour. Peet's Major Dickason's in the mug. Time to go to the office and start working. Last edited by CRussel; 10-18-2011 at 12:06 PM. |
