I'm tickled by alternate uses for technology. There's a punk Morris Dancing ensemble in England that uses things like GPS systems to give them the location of the nearest pub after a dance session.

The late Sax Rohmer did a series of stories in the pulp days about the insidious Dr. Fu Manchu. They were "yellow peril" tales. Fu Manchu was a rich, brilliant oriental out to rule the world, and Rohmer's protagonist Nayland Smith was trying to stop him. IIRC, in the last book, Smith concludes that he's only fighting a delaying action. Fu Manchu is too smart, powerful, and rich, and will eventually win, despite Smith's best efforts. He concludes that it might not be a bad thing, as once he does rule the world, he'll probably do a decent job of it. He's ruthless in pursuit of his goals, but having attained them will have no particular reason to be a tyrant or despot, and may well be trying to take over out of disgust with the poor job the incumbents are doing.

I'm resisting the temptation to suggest to the chap that Larry and Sergei taking over might not be a bad thing. They can hardly do a worse job than the current crop...

I miss cake. down 40 pounds pounds now. I started lifting again a couple weeks ago and that has me bulking up in poundage again.

I have done nothing but own up to that since I been back. I was enraged over the anti-American politics and had an evil “kill them all” attitude. It was wrong of me.
