I just used DSCVR90BK in the US, perhaps you used it before. Harrumph. I was in the middle of checkout with two of the promo codes, and my browser accidentally went back two pages, and now I can't use either the the promo codes, so if you ever checked to see if they were valid, you could have lost them.

I just used all of them on some Baen books that I wanted. The code(s) worked for one book each so I ended up getting $28.00 reduced to around $9.50. Not bad at all. They all worked in the USA for me.

If you happen to be into Canadian literature (or overseas imports by a Canadian publisher), Kobo Canada has a current promotion, good through October 31st, for select titles from House of Anansi (a leading independent publisher) for under $5 CAD each (couponable). I'm mostly seeing a price of $3.50 with my VIP membership discount, but a few are under $3 as well. There's a mix of literary and general/children's fiction, non-fiction, and crime thrillers, and HOA's books are normally priced at over $10 CAD (I know this because I have a number on my wishlist, and keep hoping for holiday offers on them; alas, no new price-drops this time around).

In addition to Giller Prize and Arthur Ellis Award-nominated homegrown Canadian talent such as Ian Hamilton (SYKM; whose currently-part-of-the-sale Ava Lee series of mostly non-murder investigative action mysteries starring a globe-trotting forensic accountant I highly recommend if you're into that sort of thing), HOA's Spiderline imprint is also the English-language publisher for a number of international authors highly popular in foreign translation in Europe, such as Sweden's Stefan Ahnhem (SYKM) and Denmark's Jakob Melander (SYKM), who both have 1st-in-series novels in the sale, and bringing British authors to North America. A lot of these authors have different (and often non-couponable and seldom on sale; though I did pick up Ahnhem's book really cheap last year for just £0.99 from Head of Zeus, less couponage) publishers in the US and UK, if their books are available there at all.

Also, if you happen to be a fan of Joanne Fluke's (SYKM, Wikipedia) popular cozy mysteries (and also her lesser-known thrillers), Kobo has a 3 for 2 sale, also good until October 31st, on many of her titles. IIRC, these are mostly out from Kensington, who are now non-couponable in the US since their recent acquisition by one of the big publishing houses, but are still couponable/VIP discounted in Canada for who knows how much longer. Anyway, this is probably the cheapest you're likely to see them on sale for a while, unless you're willing to wait for the sporadic $1.99-$2.99 price-drops that Kensington sometimes runs on selected titles. Incidentally, this sale stacks with the selected Fluke titles already in that price range, if you can find three of them you don't already have.

I just got one too. Does anyone have a link of what qualifies for the free book you get when you buy a VIP membership? At half price I might be able to find one that would make VIP worth it.
