We've a few cats that we rescued from the street and I do love the little buggers but, they still think they live in the bushes and attack when ever the chance arrises, this is usually harmless fun, but a couple of days ago on of the little ingrates bit the back of my hand. While i have had this happen many times before, for what ever reason the bite became infected almost immediately, swelling redness etc.
I know Bambi, the little canine assassin, was only reacting in her natural way, I understand all this objectively, but emotionally I would like to ring her cute little neck! Deep breath, no I didn't ring her neck, she is sleeping on my lap as I write this and my rant isn't really about the cat. The rant is really about the inept attitudes in the medical profession. After 12 hours with the bite area getting more swollen and painful, I went to a clinic, something I rarely ever do, but infections are pretty serious so I went. I told the doctor, who I would be surprised if he ever went to medical school and if he did he was drunk the entire time, what happened and he said I should soak it in cold water??? I'm not the brightest bulb in the packet, but I didn't think this sounded like the best course of action, so off to the next clinic, this one in an "Expat" hospital. I went to the emergency, because I didn't have an appointment and had no idea where else to go. I asked to see a doctor and was told that there were no doctors available unless it was an emergency, looking around the empty waiting room, I asked her if there were any other patients? Nope, so why can't I see the doctor, yes you guessed it, it wasn't an emergency. After a couple of minutes watching the nurse play sudoku, badly I showed her my hand and said I thought it was an emergency, she rushed me right in to see the doctor. He dressed the wound and gave me a tetnis<sp> shot, I haven't had one in 10 years at least so figure it couldn't hurt, and a prescription for everything in the cupboard (antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, antiseptic cream, a pain killer (?) and an antacid (?) ). I took the antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and the antiseptic cream, I did get the pain killers as well, not that they are needed now, but it is hard to get them here and I am now well on my way to a recovery. I don't know about other countries but here the doctors all seem on the take with the drug companies, I have been prescribed pills for everything under the sun here, antibiotics are so over prescribed here its scary. Ok Rant done, the cat by the way is very content and purring like mad, I guess my earlier thoughts of homicide (caticide) were hugely inflated and I am greatful to the doctor for seeing me....yeah I took the pain killer ![]() |

When we got our little monster 3 years ago (from the shelter), we didn't know he was afraid (to death) of the vacuum cleaner. So, one day, I was holding him in my arms when my husband turned it on. My hand was all deeply scratched (inside). I never blamed the cat, he was so obvious terrified!
He still often scratches my hands (usually my fault, as I like to play with him with bare hands and he not always remembers to retract his claws...). But he should know never to bite the hand that feeds you! |

Bambi is at this moment cleaning herself on my lap, any talking will have to wait until the princess is done! The funny thing is that she usually isn't this friendly, she feel guilty, yeah thats it.
I always thought that saying was farfetched, I have yet to meet someone with a cat or a dog that hasn't been bitten on the hand. But it is a nice notion ![]() |

Book and Candle") who was a real little 'Princess'. She was gorgeous, and regal, and knew it. One of my pearl and diamante (fake) bracelets served as a collar. If we had a visitor who was not a 'cat lover' she would make a beeline for them (how did she know, is the question?) she would turn on the charm. Certain 'ladies of the night' should have taken lessons from her. She always won. Cheers |

Sounds like every Siamese I have ever encountered.
We have a Siamese (Burmese) mix that just showed up on our doorstep one day, she turned the charm on and we still have her. My wife thought she was a kitten, but I could tell she was just very small. Turns out she was pretending to be a kitten to get her paw in the door, she's the same size 5 years on. The first pic is Manja on the top of the cupboards, where she insists on going. the second is in a shower, no I wasn't in the shower with a camera, I went in to take a picture of her, she always sits at the end of the shower whenever we shower, she's a little possessive/perverted. |
