It seems Amazon has slipped a new (old) Whispersync offer in for us. If you did not get "The Lair of the White Worm" by Bram Stoker last year when I made the big Audible freebie post, then you can now get it through Whispersync. The Kindle book to start you on your journey can be found here. I just listened to this one in October (when I finished "Dracula" too quickly - yummy). It's pretty good, not Stoker's best but definitely strange.

...aaand just as fast as we have a comprehensive list they add another one. This one is a short story - "Oh Whistle and I'll Come to You, My Lad" by M.R. James. Apparently Audible is publishing a number of James' titles with David Suchet narrating over the coming weeks, and this is the teaser. If you're interested the title can be found here.

Oh good! I've been hoping for more M. R. James editions, particularly with better known narrators, better known producers, etc. I just wish I could buy them in "anthologies" rather than one at a time, but this will have to do unless I'm willing to hunt down collections, or order that CD I want from England.

If you are an Amazon customer and have some free mp3 credits to burn (like if you order a CD, Kindle accessory, video rental, etc.) you might want to check this out. It's two hours, and narrated by Andrew Sachs. It's from a company called Textbook Stuff, which has a number of horror and poetry short titles. I am working through their collection as I get free mp3 credits; they really are quite good.

I've also been tempted with some of the M.R. James stuff by Robert Lloyd Parry on this page: http://www.nunkie.co.uk

I've seen one of his spoken word albums for sale on eMusic or iTunes or something. The DVDs would be cool, but there are shipping costs, and I can't remember if they are multiregional. I might just check his YouTube channel for now.
