We've had some impressive thunderstorms last night and during the night. Right now it's a bit sunny, but for later today more rain is predicted. It'll be a cool day at 18-19C.

Having spent a dozen years in that part of the country during a former life, I can attest that "an unbearably hot and humid day" is truly UNBEARABLE. My sympathy to you and Pooh!

I've always been amazed at how the southeast USA was ever settled before there were air conditioners.

The dramatic thunderstorms that were forecast for today swept south of us.

Still, it was gloomy, overcast and rainy -- just no fireworks or damaging winds. The forecast for tomorrow is for scattered thunderstorms. The weather should be good by Thursday.

We're in for another heatwave. From today until at least Wednesday daytime temperatures will be around 30C. The current forecast is that from Thursday temperatures start going down. At least last night and tonight temperatures dropped nicely, so sleeping wasn't too difficult, but in a couple of days night time temperatures are around 20C, which is unpleasant.

Warm. Until Wednesday daytime temperatures are 30C or higher. Not as bad as late July when we had temperatures of almost 40C, but nonetheless not fun IMHO. There is not much wind, when opening the windows at night doesn't cool the house much.

Some time between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning it'll start to rain, with possible thunderstorms, on Thursday it'll be just around 22C, almost 10C cooler than the day before.
