At the moment I'm house sitting for friends. They live in a terraced house, which is relatively small. So at night I can open windows on both side of the house and it'll cool down relatively fast. At home we've got thick walls, in summer that means it takes a while to warm up inside, but once it does it takes a long time to cool down again. The drawback of my friends' place is that there are very few trees in the street, so once the sun is up temperatures rise very quickly. |

It was a very unpleasant night, around 3am it was still well over 29C locally, temperatures eventually dropped to around 25C. The wind did pick up during the night, if fact so much so that I had to close the windows because things got blown everywhere.
Today will be another scorcher (for Dutch standards), around 37C. But there will be more clouds so hopefully the sun won't be as powerful. I'm now trying to cool down the living area as much as possible before temperatures rise again and I have to close up everything. But I expect it to get warmer than yesterday indoors, since by now the structure of the house has warmed up, too. |

Today was still warm, 29C, but with a very nice breeze, which later in the afternoon got a bit cooler. It's now 25C, and I hope it'll cool down quickly tonight. It would be nice to sleep without a fan on again. It hasn't rained yet, but it looks like we might get some later tonight, if it doesn't dissolve/dissipate (?) before it reaches us.
Tomorrow is another warm day, 28C and after that it starts to cool down properly. Later in the week it'll get rainy. Mind you, even 29C and humid is better than a dry, 38C heat. |

Today was a nice day. Around 2pm it was around 24C and humid. But then we had a rain shower and it started to cool down to 20C. It was cloudy, which was a welcome change, and occasionally it drizzled.
On Tuesday they predict another 28-30C day before we return to the usual Dutch summer weather; around 22C with the occasional shower. Which is fine with me. I just got an email from a website with the title "Bring the summer into your home". No thank you, we've had that the past week and it didn't agree with me (and most people). |

Today we're going to get one last warm day, 27-29C, and from tomorrow temperatures will drop to around 21C, with some sun and a chance of rain/thunderstorms every day.

It was a warm day, 28C, so a bit lower than predicted by some. Unlike normally in the Netherlands when it's hot it was a dry heat, so a lot easier to deal with than the normal humidity.
For the next couple of weeks rain is a possibility almost every day. So now the newspapers/website are moaning that August will be bad because of the rain. Last week they were reporting that the water shortages in part of the country were still a problem, a year after the very dry summer. I don't mind the rain much. Sure, I would like it to rain during the night and have pleasant sunny day. But you can't have everything. |

It's looking like Erick decided to leave Flossie standing at the alter.

Not bad at all. After several days in the 90s, and a dramatic thunderstorm yesterday, today was very nice. The temperature was in the 80s (F), it was mostly sunny, and the humidity was moderate. I would have liked a breeze, but I can't really complain.
