wow loos are just getting better and better.
The dunnies in Auckland airport automatically flush when you walk away. (I spent ages pressing and pressing that darned button which was really a sensor until I gave up, walked away and flush! And the hand basins turn on and off the taps as you put your hand there! Great! I can't wait to try a loo that washes and dries your bum for you too! ![]() |

But isn't this sort of isolating us more and more? What about the bathroom attendants who would smile and hand you a heated hand towel? I sort of miss them. Instead, we get the woman with a mop sloshing it around your shoes as we stand there trying to ignore them and pee! Stitchawl |

Bah! bathroom attendants! I prefer privacy for loo visits.
I remember once in a Chinese hotel bathroom that had a very VERY shiny floor, my mother and I were sitting on loos next to each other and an attendant was in the room waiting to pass the towels etc. We both looked down at the same time and realised that we could see each other in the reflection. Plenty of giggles ensued. The serious faced attendant said nothing, but smiled and bowed as we left, but we thought she might keep the floors so shiny so she could see what was happening in the cubicles. |

![]() Here in Malaysia, no one will shake or for that matter touch your left hand, this isn't a religious thing and most people do not have (use) toilet paper in their homes! You can figure out the rest, I'm sure. I think this is common in Asia. I was once shocked by this level of intimate information, but since living in Asia, that changed, no topic is too personal in Malaysia, I do mean no topic, really! I'm used to German bidets that were more for "freshening". yes that would clean that issue without toilet paper, but some blotting would still be necessary

since this is a ranting thread, i'll be putting my two cents here, though it may not be consistent with the current topic (bathrooms? o.o)
i'm tired of not knowing what to say when i talk about prices of ebooks with my family and they just tell me to download torrents. if it's an out-of-copyright book or books that i can get for free LEGALLY, then I'd go for it, but I do balk somewhat (and also feel guilty) about illegally downloading ebooks, simply because i feel for the author. i find it ironic that some members of my family would tell me that authors "generally starve" while they support illegally downloading ebooks. and I just don't know how to reason with people who don't really respect logical arguments. my eldest sister is a reasonable enough person, but my brother is just well, you just can't reason with him. i mean, i would think that any person would prefer free if they can get it, but there is a line. |
