Hey, it was 0F degrees again when we woke up. I'd take 40's and rain. We won't get back up to 40-ish till Friday or Saturday.

It's freaking cold, it was probably below zero this morning (I'm just northeast of Joliet, which might mean something to badgoodDeb, and probably others)

We lucked out! We were forecast to get up to 9 inches of snow last night -- we only got 8!

It has the density and consistency of wet cement. The driveway is halfway shoveled. Fortunately, the sun is strong enough now that if I just scrape it down to expose some blacktop, the sun will finish the job.

High temperature today was 43° (F) which is colder than average, but not nearly as "colder than average" as the past few days. It has been so cold that the eight inches of snow we got Sunday night into Monday morning has collapsed into two or three inches of solid ice. The roads have been clear from the start, since the sun is strong enough to heat the pavement, but when the high temperature for the day is below freezing the snow on the ground doesn't melt.

It's grey, wet and windy. The same as the past week and the same it will stay until at least Sunday. It isn't cold 8C to 12C. I'm thoroughly fed up with this weather and I'm looking forward to the promised sunny weather predicted for next week.
