The QT6 change usually impacts the GUI. If you are not changing the plugin configuration you probably won’t have a problem.

Hmmm I‘m not inclined to risk it, especially since I use obok. So… I‘ll wait a month or so to let 6 settle down anyway and if Nodrm doesnt make a release I‘ll just build it and see how it goes.
ETA I just installed a parallel copy of Calibre 6, simply downloaded the latest files from the NoDRM repo which seem to be from April 2022, and actually so far so good - trivial. ETA 2 - Obok needs work for Qt6 it looks like, though nothing too hard Last edited by Stevex; 07-12-2022 at 01:32 PM. |

I grabbed a free book from Amazon. When I went to add it to Calibre with the method in this thread (Kindle 1.17), I got a .MOBI file, but the content was some 3000 pages of:

I tested with another free book and got an AZW3 as expected. Does anybody know what happened here? Last edited by ownedbycats; 07-12-2022 at 01:54 PM. |

Might that be a fixed format ebook (non-reflowable)? I'm not sure anything handles that.
[EDIT: If it's this book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07LDXFGV6/ I think that is a fixed format book. Note that the "available on these devices" doesn't list any actual e-Ink Kindles. |

That would make sense. Thanks.
Sometimes I really wish people would just stick to PDF for fixed-layout stuff... |

Could actually be AZW4 which is a PDF in an Amazon wrapper. Try extracting the PDF with the Kindle Unpack plugin.

Problems Converting Some Books
![]() I have tried using the batch file (KFX_begone4), as well as the command line stated. Nothing has worked, I still get some books converting and some not. What am I doing wrong? I love my calibre, and really want to sort this, so any constructive help or advice would be gratefully received. |

KFX_begone4 would do nothing since K4PC 1.17.0 does not support KFX. Are you sure you still have K4PC 1.17 installed and it did not update? Amazon has been getting sneaky with forcing silent updates. May I ask why you updated to W11 and are running a version of calibre from March, 2019? |

Yes it is still definitely K4PC 1.17.0. The reason I have installed calibre 3.40.1 is because I did not think that any new calibre installs were able to convert KFX files. Am I wrong? I have never seen anything to say that current versions of calibre can convert KFXs. If the latest calibre can, do I still need K4PC 1.17.0 and the De-DRM and KFX Input plug-ins? |

Converting KFX input files is pretty much a dead letter since Amazon keeps updating the DRM on KFX files making it pretty much impossible to remove. Given that you are using K4PC 1.17, you will likely get mostly KF8/azw3 with a few KF7/mobi files. If yu have a version of K4PC that would download KFX files, in the directory where you are downloading your Amazon ebooks, you would see subdirectories with your ebooks and voucher files. Though for whatever reason, ebooks will show up as .azw regardless of the actual format. You will still need the DeDRM plugin correctly configured for your system to import most downloaded Amazon books. |

Ok, there are no sub directories, so I'm guessing they are the azw3 files as you suggest. Therefore should I just be using the latest calibre? But if they are not coming down as KFX files, why am I still unable to convert some files? Any idea?
