For the coffee lovers:
Kabusecha (冠茶?), literally "covered tea," is a type of Japanese Sencha. Its name describes the fact that, about a week before the tea leaf buds are picked in the spring, the plantation is covered with a screen to cut out the direct sunlight. This shading produces a milder tea than standard sencha. The shaded tea known as gyokuro differs from kabusecha in that it is shaded for a longer period: about 20 days.[1] Special nets (kabuse) are hung over the plants to obtain a natural shade without completely letting out sunlight. Kabusecha Sencha has a mellower flavor and more subtle color than Sencha grown in direct sunlight.

You can realize the level of sophistication of these tea addicts. I just had a flash. Of being surrounded by an horde of ProCrash's and Astra's and of being able to stop them cold lifting up, high over my head, a tea bag of Lipton Tea.

This is my swan song. Tomorrow Big girl goes to a conference in Lisbon and I will be completely in the small but tenacious hands of Little girl.

However, I am not Teaist. I don't like (my palate is not sofisticated enough to appreciate) either Kabusecha or Gyokuro.
As it says, Kabusecha is a milder tea than standard sencha. I prefer a more pronounced flavour.
Gyokuro is even worse, although it is one of the most expensive teas. I will give Gyokuro one more chance when I go to London. Maybe one day another chance to Kabusecha...I have seen some on ebay.

Anyway, I just finished cuppa #7 and the last one for today.

I am afraid, Ceylon is not my cuppa.

Good but wet morning, all! Raindrops outside. Fortunately I'm inside. And I'm drinking unbranded Keemun tea to get me going today. Good choice.

I have just put a piece of 'kabuse' over The Twin (you can imagine what the guy in the plant nursery said when I asked to buy a piece the size of a handkerchief...) so that when I pluck her first three leaves, I too will have the prize of prizes. I seem to remember that for the VERY BEST tea, the leaves should be picked by naked virgins, but A) my wife vetoed that idea, and B) I don't know of any virgins over the age of 11. I'll have to settle for my wife doing the harvest. It shouldn't take too long.

Yup. My problem is that I can acknowledge that I have a problem with tea, kindle, tennis, hot peppers, and a few other things. I just don't want to change.
