I was going to start by saying 'how odd' because the emails are to my AU accounts and so you should also be getting them. But hey, this IS kobo we're talking about ..... Maybe there's some info on the AU home page by now? I can't check cos I'm sending via phone. |

No email for me, and I can't find a mention of it on Kobo's site. The big ad I see there is the Romantic "Buy 2 Get One Free" sale that ends on the 19th.

Looking from New Zealand, the supersale promotion is: up to 70% off select titles (not many to choose from) + spend $50 and earn 5000 bonus super points. Any ebook purchases from 18-22 Feb count toward the $50, not just the select titles. That is an extra 5x points a VIP would normally get for spending $50, so I think this might be a good time to get a few of the non-discountable books that have been sitting on my wishlist. |

The only thing I've gotten from Kobo lately is the same 90% off we missed you code that didn't work last time. Surprise, it still doesn't work this time.

So you all saw this right ...... Earn bonus Super Points on all purchases from our eBook store until February 22. Bonus Super Points will be added to your account 7 to 10 business days after the promotion period. Can you imagine the multitude of ways that this is going to cause problems? Also, the up to 70% off sale means the great majority of the 19 Mysteries and Thrillers in the AU store are $4.99!! (Wow, what a sale .... ummm.... not!) Edit And another version of when the points will be added. This version is at the bottom of the main info page: https://store.kobobooks.com/p/supers...campaign=00004 Bonus Kobo Super Points to be added to customer’s accounts 7 to 10 business days after completion of the promotion period (approximate date). Well, as you may recall, Kobo Cust Serv told me they were sending my request for a replacement code to some mysterious unnamed section within the bowels of their Canadian head office. That didn't happen. Instead I got another email from CS telling me that I can't use a code that's already been used!! Gee, so around the mulberry bush we go again!! |

I decided a while ago in regard to Kobo that I'd just let it wash over me. I've benefited so much from their idiosyncratic way of doing things, such as 90% unlimited codes and the ability to shop abroad, that if a coupon doesn't work, I let it go. It's not worth the tsuris - or the time - to pursue it. Who needs the frustration? I'm already far ahead in terms of my relationship with them.

ETA: Whoops, just realized I misunderstood the points. No extra points unless you do spend $50. I was thinking extra points on each purchase, and then more if you reached $50. :P Last edited by lkmiller; 02-19-2016 at 08:08 PM.

I view it much the same. I've well over 1,000 books these days, and if I've paid full price for even 10% of them, I'd be shocked. (and the majority of those are ones I bought before I had ever heard of coupon codes, etc) That said, if they ever sentme a 90% code that didn't work, I would probably try contacting customer service - that is too good a code to pass up.

The last 90% off one I got that didn't work, I got on chat with a Kobo rep. It was painful. I gave him the link from the email and told him the book I wanted. He said that book isn't discountable. Well, it's on the list from the email they sent. Although if you sort that list by coupon eligible items, more than half of it disappeared. I pointed out that even if I chose a coupon eligible book from the list, the coupon code still didn't work. They had me purchase the book at regular price and then refunded me 90% of the purchase price. As store credit, of course. I'm finding it's not worth it to contact them, even about a 90% off code that doesn't work because there really isn't another book on that same list that I want to purchase. |
