I use that trick on my Samsung. I just type strange wrdo. It accepts it. If I type w r d o then a space it corrects. Of course now I have to get rid of wrdo.

Tags have not been loading for me when downloaded. But your right, the ratings still seem to happen sometimes. I just highlighted all the books with stars and got rid of them all at once. Now I'll keep an eye on it.

I think what happened is that the author used Calibre to create the epub version of the book. Rating is one of the fields that Calibre stores metadata for when you do a conversion. And she so helpfully decided her book was great Or whomever she hired to help with formatting did so. I fixed the coding so that the text didn't not appear immediately below the words "chapter x" with no space between them and noticed some of the css had calibre in it.
Well, I did notice some ratings when I told calibre not to give me ratings. But they were on Harlequin eBooks, not self-published.

Of course, an author is going to think their own book is great (5 stars).

I also found it free at B&N. Not at Kobo though. So excited, love this series and this was the only one I didn't have in ebook form.

I get rid of any star ratings and tags when I put a book into Calibre. I like my own much better and delete any it already comes with.

Wouldn't this be books that have that metadata value pre-loaded? You're not downloading the ratings when you clean-up the book, but they're already there from the "helpful" author or publisher.

I've got both tags and ratings unchecked as well, but if some "well-meaning" soul has already added it to the book, I'm stuck having to clean it out when I do my metadata cleanups.

Is your plugin only for personal use and is it customizable? It sounds like something I would be interested in.

I haven't actually read the article... but my immediate first thought is, if the majority of women are reading romance for "the sexy", what's wrong with that?

Obviously I realize the drawbacks to the industry as a whole if the majority of publishing houses start pushing their writers in a specific direction, but that happens in every industry everywhere. It corrects itself eventually. But until it does, I genuinely don't understand why someone's preferences of reading material are anyone's concerns but theirs.

I agree to a point. We have been years trying to change people opinions in romance so people stop thinking of them as mommy porn, smut, trashy books, bodice rippers..etc 50 Shades did a lot of damage to the respectability of the romance genre. It's very disheartening to people just accept outsiders views and lump every romance fan together. The more people think this the more damaging it can be.

I agree with you Blossom. That's how I read it too. I checked my Library and I don't have any books by her. If a book sounds like it has a lot of sex(y), I skip right by. I want Romance not sex...
