Okay, another observation, this time after reading for a few hours today...

I am not well versed in the Kindle 3 display problems (something about slower page turns after a little while?), but my PRS-350 suffers from a similar problem. Not only that, but the screen isn't suddenly as sharp when a page turn has been done.

However, the funny thing is, if I let it still for 5 mins, the problem goes away... !

Interesting. Was this under normal, indoor, temperature conditions, or were your outside in the sun?

Indoors. This has been happening ever since I mentioned it earlier. I leave it alone for 5 mins, continue reading just fine, and maybe 20 mins later it does it again... Since I am going to sleep in a short while, I will be leaving it alone and see how long it takes for the device to do it again when I pick up reading tomorrow. If it still does, I'll see if a reboot fixes things...

Worth it to mention that it started doing this around page 120 of a 888 page book (The Dakota Cipher by William Dietrich), in LRF format.

I've actually noticed this on the 300, with ePub books, that the page turned slowed down when I got toward the end of (what I assume was) the section. (Meaning, I'm assuming the file is broken into pieces, by chapter in this case, and it slowed down toward the end of the chapter). Then I'd jump to a new section, and the page turns were speedy again...

I haven't encountered any page slow downs on my K3 yet, but I have noticed that occasionally I will see lines of text that are not as dark as others. It is easily remedied with a screen refresh. I haven't noticed this on my KDXG which has the larger Pearl screen. Maybe there are some bugs that need addressing with the smaller Pearl screens.

called the local Sony Store

I called the local Sony Store. They said they will be getting them next week. I was considering pre-ordering but I don't want red or black (holding out for silver).

I am hoping the Sony Store will have them in silver.

I can tell you one thing that is for sure.

I will be at the Sony Store on the 16th to find out!

My understanding is that in the US, each reader will be sold in only two colors. The 350 will be in silver or pink. The 650 will be in black or red. Other colors are being released in other countries. I have seen photos of a silver 650 in the internet, but it does not appear that it will be released here.

Hmmmm. Maybe I can pick up a Canadian model. From where I am in Michigan I can be in canada in less than 30 minutes. But I don't know if there is aSony Style store in Windsor.

I wonder if I could somehow order a reader from the Canadian site?

Does anyone know?

Go to sonystyle.ca for Canadian sony info. The store in Windsor is here:

(Windsor) - DEVONSHIRE MALL
Unit H11, 3100 Howard Ave. Windsor, ON
N8X 3Y8
Tel: 519-250-7931
Fax: 519-250-7940

Don't go before calling though. Out on the west coast, they told me that the readers won't make it there until October and there are not even any display models yet.

Others (from the Toronto area, I believe) have mentioned that they have already bought the new reader models in Canada, so you might luck out. (Call first, of course).

Nope. Target doesn't have them, at least the one closest to me...just a few left over 300's, and they're looking kind of sad in their clearance bracket for $129.

Glad to hear it! That's one of my complaints about the Opus, that and the creaky plastic buttons.

Now I just need to decide if I want the 350, 650 or 950. I love the portability and light weight of the Opus, but I like the Nook's 6" screen and WiFi.

It looks like the 950 is the same size as the Nook, but I can't find the weight anywhere.

For what its worth, I have a nook and my husband has a 900. The nook and the 900 are very similar in size.
