I have had my Kindle for almost 2 years.. I have always been a prolific reader, and I rarely re-read books.
According to last month's books count that I keep, I read 24 books & 53 novellas/shortstories.
Now, I admit that this summer I do have a bit more spare time than normal, as I am taking care of my 91 yo. grandmother who fell in April, and not at home with my DH, 3 teens, 2 cats, dog, and RL. Normally I average 20/21 books per month.
I am also back in college full-time to change careers, getting outta teaching and into nursing (hopefully-find out next week). I also quilt - machine piecing and quilting or nothing would ever get finished, and I design many of my own quilts. I watch very little TV, 2 shows really, Eureka & Warehouse 13. And I like to play with graphics, so I've made um. somewhere around 3K screensavers for my Kindle... not that I have more than 20 on it at a time, and I have posted about half of the ones I have made for others. I don't play online games, I do visit Kindlboards regularly, and pop in here about once a day since joining.

I'm really amazed how many of you are reading one book each day according to your numbers.

Being a full time worker i'm getting up about 7 am and be back home at about 7 or 8 pm. That gives me time for about one novel (60-70 pages) a day or one book a week.

Wish i had more time to spent on reading and reading and reading ....

That's some of the difference. Even working full time, I always limit my work hours and commute. I make a good living, but I'd be willing to make less and have less, if it meant protecting my time.

Just finished a book about ... time management
On average I read about 100 books per year. But it differs quite significantly, depending on my job and my mood. Sometimes it's 5 books per week, sometimes it's just 1 book per month.
And it heavily depends on the content: I easily can do a Stephen King or James Patterson in a single instance. Self improvement books or business literature usually takes more time. On the other hand, I can do speed reading for information driven literature like the latter. But I normally don't use speed reading for casual reads, simply kills the fun.

I read 40-50 books a year. That's not much, but I'm trying to find more time for reading and hopefully I will read more books during next year.

wow, I just read 20 books or less in a year, how did you do that, my friend?

I'm like you Hangers. I didn't read many books until I got my Nook. I really purchased the Nook because I'm a gadget person more then for a tool to read. But now I read much more then ever and I'm enjoying it. Prior to the Nook I read a couple of books a year. Most of my reading before that was motorcycle and computer magazines.

Interesting thread.

I read 250-300 books per year in both electronic and paper based formats. I'm a fast reader and always have been. In school I was always well above my grade level in reading and comprehension. I'm typically tested at ~900+wpm with 85-90% comprehension. Some formats are better than others. I can generally chew through fiction pretty quickly but more technical stuff (like professional journals) makes me slow down a bit to ensure that I'm getting 100% comprehension.
