When my wife and I bought our 505s last month, she got a cover with a wedge light in it from Sony. Except for being a little heavy, it works really well. I didn't like the weight and passed and have a lightweight clip-on LED. Isn't the unit we bought at SonyStyle readily available?

That must be new. I've looked many times before and not seen it.

Looks like it doesn't work with the old style reader that I have though. I wonder why? I think the covers might attach differently?

The light wedge from Sony has the usual two attachment points at top and bottom and works interchangeably with a regular cover. It is a good light source, IMHO. No idea how long it has been available.

From memory of the London meeting, they do attach differently. The PRS-500 has a strange circular press on catch, but the PRS-505 (if I remember correctly) has catches about where the spine should be..

I am so jealous of the 505 owners! DAMN!!!! I have kept saying the only thing keeping me from upgrading from my 500 -- is that nothing else has a side light..

but to buy a 505.. just for that..hmm... I wonder what I could sell my 500 for..

ehubbard--

Assuming you live in the United States, you could take advantage of Sony's trade in program to receive $100 off of a 505.

Or wait till 2nd October, when Sony is going to announce something ... we don't know yet what but I believe it is worth to wait just a little bit more.

I did get the light wedge cover for my birthday today and it's quite nice. I'll be using it mostly to read in bed when my wife is trying to sleep.

I didn't work up courage to buy one. I take my reader every day to work. This cover would be a nuisance. Swapping the reader 5-6 times a week would wear off small plastic hinges on the cover in no time.

I am also concerned about the plastic attachment points. I prefer to read the reader out of the cover and don't have a lot of confidence that I can make that change too often! What is the best slip on cover to use? I would hate to use a Crown Royal bag!

Haha, good for sony. I was wondering if they'd ever make a lightwedge for it. I'm going to work on my custom lightwedge again. I put it away after I was hassled going through airport security.

Two ways.
Both are a lot more expensive now than it used to be 2 years ago. At least for the UK.
1. ebay
2. I bought mine here

However, shipping cost is prohibitiv. I paid $15 on 03/04/2007 (almost 2 years ago). It is $48!!! now.

$30 on ebay I believe.

Maybe it is cheaper for Portugal?

Hi Astra!

Thank you very much for your quick response!

I just checked "Tools for Wellness" (where you bought yours) and it will cost me € 51,13...
I might, just might, actually pay that absurd ammount of money since my Mighty Bright just stresses my eyes too much, too quickly.
My eyes will, I hope, thank me (and, again, you).

Regards

Nelson

Is the Verilux clipped onto the 505's back cover?
