I'm also in the curly hair gang... well, wavy/curly/frizzy, depending on the weather and my use of hair product. Mine got curly right around age 13 as well. It never went straight again though I have the perfect "hula hair" as I am often told. That's the way you say "long, curly-ish frizzball hair" in Hawai'i.

Yaaay- look, Zelda, I did it! thanks for the help!

After 7 long days, Ryleigh is finally back at school!! It was a nasty viral flu that turned into croup, but she is almost back to her old self.

Now maybe I can get some errands completed and maybe fit in a little reading, too.

Phenomshel and I are in northern Illinois. We just found out that we live about 15-20 minutes away from each other! We still haven't met up yet, but we're planning on it! I grew up in Rockford, but now live in the country outside the small town of Mount Morris.

So, how did you end up where you are now?

Small world -- you two need to meet up this summer!

Well, I grew up in the suburbs and went to Illinois College where I studied history. Then did an MA at a university in England where I met my husband to be. We ended up getting married and moving to Scotland (he's Scottish). My family live in Illinois and we usually get back for a visit every couple of years.

Getting smaller all the time! Oh, I'm sure we'll meet before summer. I shop where she works, it just hasn't been on the same days as yet. We were going to try to do MR Donut Day together, but my plans changed at the last minute.

Thanks for sharing! It's very interesting to me to hear how MR-ers from the US ended up in other countries or vice versa!

My 2 that are in college finished their finals this week. That's not entirely true! Shannon finished her finals and is now a college grad. Ryleigh, who is in 2nd grade won't finish until June 17th. It's ridiculous how long they make kids go to school these days. When I was a kid (in a small town north of Joliet, IL), school ended just after Memorial day.

Kaz

PS Thank goodness she went back today. I was starting to hear the Scooby Doo theme song in my sleep!!

I know what you mean, summers seemed to last forever when I was a child. Here in Scotland, my son only gets seven weeks summer holiday, they go until the very end of June and go back in mid-August.

That's just sick and wrong! Kids need to have time to be kids! All the serious stuff comes along too fast as it is!

I agree!! I suspect local government is under pressure from working parents who struggle to manage childcare during the school holidays. I also suspect many children end up in all-day, adult organised and structured 'summer camps'. Many children don't have the freedom to run wild and do their own thing in the summer anymore.

Tell me about it! At least it's not as bad as Wed. night. We had large pieces of metal barn roofs torn off all around us!
I should celebrate that ours was not one of them!! Amazingly!
