The only problems I find about GoodReads is that when I create a new edition, it's not added to the rest of the editions of the same book. I'm creating ebook editions as needed and that when I do find an edition that I want to add and it has errors, I cannot fix it.

It has to be combined by a librarian. If you need them combined, please let me or Justy know. Also if you have any errors. If you see Kindle editions, they've all been automatically added by amazon.

well thats unfortunate. I do "like" the good reads interface, but it gives me nothing over Library thing (besides the no book limit, and easier to use Shelving options)

I LOVE library things book suggester, and i found another site that does that too that i saw posted here a week ago

http://www.whatshouldireadnext.com/books/search

as well as this for finding new/similar authors
http://www.literature-map.com/

and here is librarythings option for non members

I now have to update everything on my bookshelves at goodreads. I'd cut down how much time I was spending on there because I was spending so much time at MR, and now I'm back there again. I had completely forgotten I joined the MR group until I saw this thread.

I joined goodreads with some vague idea that I could keep track of the library books I'm reading and add all the books I own, now that I'm getting ebooks rather than pbooks. I know all the pbooks I have because I see them on the shelves, so I don't just know the title, I know the colour and shape of them. It's harder to keep track of ebooks.

However, I have hundreds (not even going to consider working out how many as the number scares me) of pbooks, over 200 ebooks plus all the library books I've read so far this year, yet I only have 242 books listed on goodreads, so I've got a serious amount of work to do. The trouble is I keep getting distracted ...

I'm glad I joined GoodReads. It works for me. I even stopped updating my bedside notebook with the books I've read.

So am I. Thank whoever for mentioning this site on MR.

I was using Shelfari part-time before, but their prodigious use of Adobe Flash, the terrible overhaul with hundreds of new features and even more bugs, and hardly any possibility to add translator/editor/etc. info to specific editions made the site a horror to look at. And then the sluggishness; absolutely hopeless. It's odd to see how all of this has happened after Amazon acquired it, though..
Anyway, the GR interface is much cleaner, and the admins seem to be more active, too. So I'm happy with it (though I wasted a bit too much time editing books these last few weeks).
