Well, Jonathan Turley certainly was upset and it's hard to blame him.

A colleague of his got that result, about the alleged Sexual harassment case, with the alleged WAPO story confirming it, on the alleged trip to Alaska, with students, which has never happened, while he was allegedly working for a college for which he has never worked...can't blame him. I mean...it puts you in the "can't disprove a negative" category, doesn't it?

The big issue is, you can't really control what people put INTO it, can you? It's like Wikipedia, in a way.

Sometimes, if it's not a pet page or "supposedly controversial", you can edit/fix Wikipedia. Surprised me how often you can't fix absolutely wrong information on it. However it's about the same level of accuracy as most historic now out of print because of Wikipedia encyclopedias and usually more accurate than news websites, even of established newspapers.

Which is exactly my point. God forbid you don't agree with some "official line" from the Wikipedia Gods of Decision-making. Those that appoint themselves the Wiki_PTB. It's infuriating.

And the same thing could be true here with AI/ChatGPT. I asked ChatGPT--version 4, mind you--a question this morning and not once but twice, it gave me utterly incorrect answers. I mean, UTTERLY incorrect.

The question was, does a browser-based or API-providing ePUB reader exist with annotation and exporting same annotations capability exist? The first set of wrong answers was Calibre, ADE, Apple Books and Google Play books. I know factually that the first 3 are wrong. When I told it that those answers were wrong, it persisted in then correcting itself and telling me that you could annotate and export from Calibre, Edge, Readdle and Bookari. Only the last one is REMOTELY right, and Edge's built-in ePUB reader was killed by MSFT.

NOT inspiring.

Not to mention the biases that we've already seen, from ChatGPT. I mean, ask it the same question about both US-based "sides" and you get WILDLY different answers, one side being held up as unapproachable, purportedly for the reason of being non-biased, ("I can't/don't answer this, as it's political") but the other side is cheerfully lambasted and that had to come from the programmers, given the nature of the responses. If that's how it's going to be, it's useless.

We hear a lot of concerned voices about humankind opening Pandrora's box by creating AI. But could an AI evolve by itself perhaps? If a network of computers (internet) became vast enough? Could it be observing us from the sidelines right now?

Is AI inevitable? Are human beings simply an example of a "stepping-stone" species in the transfer from biological to digital?

Perhaps we're all just the consequence of a highly complicated and detailed chatGPT query. Maybe Douglas Adams was correct in the question being more important than the answer.

If a book is entertaining, I don't care how it's written. Many of the authors I read are more brands these days anyway.
